Asus rolls out ZenUI 4.0 for ZenFone 4 Max, but Android 8.0 Oreo is still MIA

Asus launched a few ZenFone 4 models back in September, but they had different versions of ZenUI despite the fact they all shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat on board. For example, the ZenFone 4 Max was running ZenUI 3.0 on top of Nougat, while the ZenFone 4 Pro and ZenFone 4 included a new version of the skin.

Even though Asus promised to provide ZenFone 4 Max users with an update that will bring ZenUI 4.0 to the smartphone, the company didn’t say when it will happen. Today, Asus announced that it has commenced the roll-out of ZenUI 4.0 for ZenFone 4 Max.

Screenshots of Android 8.0 Oreo for Asus ZenFone 3 leaked out

Asus promised to update the ZenFone 3 and 4 smartphones to Android 8.0 Oreo at some point but didn’t offer a clear ETA for the release of the major OS upgrade. Today, we have several screenshots that show the new ZenUI that will run over the upcoming Oreo update for ZenFone 3.

Graphics-wise, there don’t seem to be many differences between the new ZenUI and the one running on top of Android Nougat. Also, we can’t yet confirm whether or not Asus cut back on the bloatware as it promised back in August.

The good news is all the new features and improvements included …

Asus Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 Pro Review

Some phones push the boundaries of what mobile technology is capable of. They represent the latest advancements in hardware and software reflected in a product that commands top dollar, but feel as if they’ve been taken out of a James Bond movie. Other phones – phones like the Asus ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 4 Pro – stick to the good old value-for-money approach. While not particularly groundbreaking, both handsets are well spec’d and reasonably priced – at $400 and $600 respectively – topping it off with dual cameras at the back and the promise of “an unparalleled mobile photography …

Brand new Asus ZenFone 4 is already slightly cheaper than at launch

Officially launched in the US at the end of October, the
Asus ZenFone 4 is a pretty nice mid-range smartphone that’s sold unlocked and
can be used on carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T (but not on Verizon and Sprint).

Initially sold for $399, the ZenFone 4 is already cheaper
than at launch, as retailers Amazon and B&H are currently offering it for $379.
B&H says this offer ends on December 2 at 11:59 pm ET, while Amazon doesn’t
say when (or if) its offer will end.

For $379, you’re getting a handset made out of aluminum and
glass, with an interesting “micro-etched, …

Asus unveils its first ZenFone series smartphone to pack an 18:9 display, the ZenFone Max Plus (M1)

Asus is one of the many companies that recently jumped into the 18:9 screen technology bandwagon. After introducing its first ever smartphone to feature such a display, the Pegasus 4S, Asus unveiled today its first ZenFone series handset with an 18:9 display, the Max Plus (M1). Although we have yet to learn when it will be available for purchase and how much it will cost, we already know quite a lot about its specs.

First off, Asus ZenFone Max Plus (M1) is a purely mid-range smartphone that runs Android 7.0 Nougat with ZenUI 4.0 on top. Also, it comes in two …

Asus ZenFone V is available for free at Verizon, but only for 2 days

Asus ZenFone V is exclusively available in the United States through Verizon. The carrier launched the smartphone about a week ago for $240 outright or $7 per month for 24 months. In the meantime, the price slightly increased to $10 per month for two years, but the outright price remains the same.

However, for a limited time, the ZenFone V is available for free at Verizon, as long as you agree to a long-term contract. You can still get the phone for $240 outright, but if you can also add a new line and pay nothing for the next two years.

Asus Zenfone V Review

As Asus continues to roll out installments in its Zenfone 4 lineup, the company has taken a moment to release Verizon’s very own, exclusive Zenfone: the Zenfone V. The V, of course, means “Verizon” and not the numeral “five,” as this is certainly neither part of the Zenfone 4 series, nor is it a jump to Zenfone 5. Instead, we have a sleek-looking phone constructed of aluminum and glass, packing 2016-level flagship components. These include a Snapdragon 820 with 4 gigabytes of RAM, a 1080p AMOLED display, and a 23-megapixel camera. Selling for $384, Asus looks to be taking a crack at the “affordable …
