Here is another look at the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

The Redmi Note 5 is probably one of Xiaomi’s most anticipated mid-range Android smartphones. We’ve been talking about the sequel to the popular Redmi Note 4 for quite a while now, but even after the first live pictures showing the phone leaked online, we still didn’t know much about what’s under the hood.

Thankfully, a new picture of the phone has now been published on China’s Weibo, which shows off some of the Redmi Note 5’s specifications. For starters, we can see that the phablet will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 CPU, a standard choice for mid-range handsets.

The latter will control your smart home, give you the latest news and weather, allow you to shop by voice through Amazon, and much more.  …

Microsoft's upcoming Mixed Reality app (formerly View 3D) is Android bound according to video?

Microsoft posted a job listing the other day, apparently seeking developers to build a 3D scanning and augmented reality app for mobile devices. One question not answered by the listing is which platform(s) will be the recipient of this work. It appears that Microsoft might have given away the answer with a promotional video it released back in May. The video, which we’ve embedded at the stop of the story for your viewing pleasure, shows a preview of Redmond’s View 3D app. The upcoming app will now be known as Microsoft’s Mixed Reality viewer when released.

Asus accidentally leaked four upcoming ZenFone 4 models, complete with renders, specs, and prices

Asus is a master of confusion when it comes to its smartphones’ names — even if we disregard that it’s the only manufacturer out there using numbers to denominate generations instead of models (so ZenFone 3 is the name of a whole bunch of devices, instead of just one), the company also has a fondness for releasing multiple device models under the same name in different regions. This is how we get one ZenFone 3 Deluxe that is considerably better than another ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

However, Asus is definitely not a master when it comes to not prematurely …

OnePlus fans are probably used to receiving new software updates pretty often, as the Chinese company seems to be taking great care of its high-end smartphones. Even so, we rarely have the chance to get a sneak peek at what changes will be included in an OxygenOS update that hasn’t been released yet.

According to French publication Frandroid, citing sources familiar with OnePlus’ update roadmap who wish to remain anonymous, the Chinese company is already working on OxygenOS 4.6, the next major update for the OnePlus 5.

The main highlight of the update is …

Does Marcelo Claure's tweet to John Legere hint at an upcoming merger?

Is it possible that the icy relationship between T-Mobile CEO John Legere and Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure is defrosting? As recently as January, Legere took Claure to task for laughing (via a tweet) at a joke made by Chelsea Handler about a woman who drove her car into a T-Mobile store in Florida. The woman was told that she could not get a free replacement for a damaged iPhone. As Legere noted in a tweet to Claure, “many lives were endangered & it was a criminal act. It’s actually not funny.”

But it seems as though there has been a change, at least on Claure’s part. On Thursday morning, …
