Apple releases iOS 11.2.1 to restore a feature on the unreleased HomePod

Back on December 2nd, a crazy bug was causing certain iPhone models powered by iOS 11.1.2 to continuously crash in a loop. The models with this problem were receiving preset local notifications from certain apps. Apple was forced to rectify the issue by disseminating iOS 11.2 about a week early in order to kill the bug. There were some other goodies involved in the update including three new live wallpapers for the iPhone X, support for faster 7.5W wireless charging on compatible iPhone models, enhanced stabilization for video recording and Apple Pay Cash.

MediaTek's unreleased Helio P23 faces a price cut to match discounted Snapdragon 450 SoC

With the Snapdragon 450 chipset recently the subject of a price cut to $10.50 per chip, the competition now must follow suit or find themselves behind the eight-ball when it comes to pricing. And if you’re MediaTek, that means cutting the price of the unreleased Helio P23 series, a line of chipsets designed for mid-range smartphones. According to “industry sources,” MediaTek is now considering dropping the price of these chips to less than $10 per unit.

Samsung reportedly pays $2,500 per wafer to produce the Snapdragon 450 SoC using the 14nm process. That gives Qualcomm plenty of wriggle …

It’s that time of the year when we’re overwhelmed by more or less information about upcoming smartphones that will be showcased at IFA tech exhibition. Unreleased Nokia Windows Phone 8 handset leaks with physical QWERTY in tow

Amid the excitement generated by the physical QWERTY keyboard on the BlackBerry KEYone, a leak has revealed that back in 2012, Nokia had a Windows Phone powered handset prepped for the business market. Featuring a front-facing physical QWERTY keyboard, the handset ran an early version of Windows Phone 8 but was never released. The unit was known as the Nokia RX-100, and photographs of the phone have been discovered on a website in China. The device does show a  resemblance to the 2011 Nokia E6, which also was equipped with a physical QWERTY keyboard, but was powered by Symbian.
