Lenovo's Motorola-led mobile unit continued to struggle in Q4 2017

Lenovo’s smartphone business continued to struggle in the quarter ending March 31. The period in question corresponds to Q4 of Lenovo’s fiscal 2017 year and, despite an improvement over last year’s results, the overall mobile unit is still quite a way from becoming profitable.

During the three-month period, the business recorded a pre-tax loss of $142 million, a significant improvement over last year’s loss of $220 million. However, the results aren’t because of an improved business performance. Instead, the unit actually saw a revenue decline during the period of over $430 million, down …

Sony's Xperia business unit will be downsized in an effort to increase profitability

Sony has confirmed that it will be downsizing its mobile division in pursuit of profits. Over the course of the last five years, Sony’s Xperia line of smartphones has seen a pretty steady decline in sales which has often been accompanied by losses. In a bid to put a stop to this, however, the Japanese giant has confirmed that it will be reducing the focus on its mobile business going forward.

A few years back, Sony Mobile announced plans to downsize the overall scale of the Xperia brand with a focus on profitable devices. This entailed scrapping most of the company’s lower-end offerings …

Huawei P20 prototype unit leaks in live pictures, leaves nothing to the imagination

Huawei has found a way to set its phones apart from the competition: three rear-cameras. The P20 will skip Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year, but the Chinese handset maker has already confirmed its flagship will be unveiled on March 27.

As expected, there hasn’t been any lack of information regarding the Huawei P20’s specs, but images with the phone haven’t been leaked yet. The most recent picture allegedly showing the flagship might not be legit, so we have yet to learn what exactly the P20 looks like.

Now the folks over at AndroidAuthority got their hands on a set of Huawei …

Galaxy S7 edge unit mysteriously receives Android Oreo update, see the software in this video

Well, folks, it has happened. After several months of testing, Samsung is finally beginning to roll out an official version of its Android Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.0 overlay. As expected, the first Samsung handsets receiving the update are the Galaxy S8 and S8+. What’s surprising, though, is that the software has also recently landed on a Galaxy S7 edge unit in Vietnam.

The above screenshot is in Vietnamese, but we can clearly see that the 1.4GB update is intended for the Galaxy S7 edge since it carries a model …

iPhone 7s Plus dummy unit captured in live pictures shows its shiny glass back side

With probably about a month away from the official reveal of Apple’s new iPhones, leaked information and images continue to add to the puzzle, so it won’t be long until we can see the bigger picture here.

Speaking of pictures, it looks like an iPhone 7s Plus dummy unit has been captured in live images. One of the smartphones that will be announced by Apple in September, the iPhone 7s Plus has a glass back instead of “standard” aluminum.

The overall design of the iPhone 7s Plus is not much different from the current model, although we aren’t offered a look …

New iPhone 8 dummy unit video reportedly provides the "closest look" at Apple's first 5.8-inch handset

Last week, we talked about a couple of photos showing an iPhone 8 dummy unit that might look like the real iPhone 8 that Apple is getting ready to announce sometime later this year. Today, the same iPhone 8 dummy unit showed up in a hands-on video that lets us better envision what Apple’s next big thing could be all about.

Revealed by @OnLeaks (one of the web’s most reliable sources when it comes to leaks and unofficial information) in collaboration with Tiger Mobiles, this iPhone 8 dummy reportedly provides “the closest look yet” at Apple’s upcoming handset.

As you can see for …

Take a peek at the first iPhone 8 dummy unit that actually looks like a real product

Another day, another alleged iPhone 8 dummy unit has been spotted online. However, this time the pictures come from a somewhat reputable source, serial leakster @OnLeaks, and also for the first time ever their subject actually looks like a real product that may hit the store shelves soon, instead of an incomplete attempt at recreating one.
Or in other words, consider this as the closest thing we’ve gotten to a real look at the iPhone 8 so far. So let’s dive in:
The front of the dummy shows us little we haven’t seen …

Shiny iPhone 8 dummy unit gets shown off in brief hands-on video

It’s not the most exciting 10 seconds of footage you have seen, but it is giving us something to look at. Designer and smartphone information leaker Benjamin Geskin published a video of him fondling a ‘dummy unit’ of the next iPhone.

A dummy is just a dummy – a lifeless mockup of a design that, in this case, may or may not be the real thing. It certainly looks credible and lovingly shiny, though, while the supposed stainless steel frame seems sturdy as ever. The vertical dual camera setup on the back is also present, quite likely to be an actual characteristic …
