The internet is having a field day with Paul Ryan's oblivious #GOPTaxScam tweet

TwitterFacebook

Paul Ryan is boasting on Twitter about all the good the G.O.P. tax plan will do. In related news, the House Majority Leader might not understand how money works for most people.

Ryan, tweeting from his personal account, earned himself a good, old-fashioned public shaming on Saturday after he tried to hype the recently passed tax bill. The extra $1.50 in one “pleasantly surprised” Pennsylvania woman’s weekly paycheck is enough to cover an annual Costco membership, he wrote.

The tweet was so astoundingly dumb that Ryan actually deleted it while we were in the process of writing about it. But let his original intent sink in for a minute. This was Ryan’s idea of a positive outcome for the new tax plan. Read more…

Picture of Acer's rumored Chrome OS powered tablet grabbed from now deleted tweet

Just the second day into 2018, we told you that Samsung was allegedly working on a Chrome OS powered tablet to be powered by a high end Intel processor. But Sammy’s Chrome OS powered slate might not end up being the first such device to hit the market. An image taken from a now deleted tweet shows an Acer tablet that is said to be running on Chrome OS. The picture was snapped by someone attending the Bett education and technology show in London, and tweeted yesterday.

Google has dropped hints in the past about allowing manufacturers to use Chrome OS on a variety of form factors, including …

Tweet from HTC teases new Vive model to be unveiled this coming Monday at CES

A tweet from HTC that was disseminated on Friday, hints that a new version of the HTC Vive VR headset is due to be unveiled this coming Monday. The tweet says “New Year’s Resolution” on top. The manufacturer cleverly had “New Year’s” out of focus with the word Resolution printed as sharp as a tack. This indicates that the new Vive will have a higher resolution display than the original model. Very smart, HTC.

Considering that Monday is the opening day of the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, we’d say that everything is coming together, pointing toward the unveiling of a new …

TwitterFacebook

Elon Musk, appreciates your business, Tesla owners.

The Tesla, Inc. co-founder tweeted a brief year-end ‘thank you’ note on Tuesday, expressing appreciation for those who “[took] a chance on a new company that all experts said would fail.” He ended the tweet with a simple request: Help us do better.

Trump's 'Time' tweet got better with every internet spoof

TwitterFacebook

It’s Thanksgiving week, and you know what that means: Time for Donald Trump’s annual tiff with Time magazine and it’s “Person of the Year” issue.

Trump won the honor last year, which should have silenced his irritation forthwith. But because he’s Donald Trump, he will not be satisfied unless he is the center of all attention always.

Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!

Twitter expands its character cap to 280 characters per tweet for most users

Twitter announced today that it is satisfied with the test it started in September that allowed some users to double the character cap on tweets from 140 to 280. The new character limit for most Twitter users globally is now officially 280 characters per tweet. During the test period, people still kept under 140 characters, and as Twitter put it, “the brevity of Twitter remained.” The number of English language tweets that hit the limit dropped from 9% to 1% with the expanded cap. Twitter says that this reflects users editing posts less often with the new higher limit.

Does Marcelo Claure's tweet to John Legere hint at an upcoming merger?

Is it possible that the icy relationship between T-Mobile CEO John Legere and Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure is defrosting? As recently as January, Legere took Claure to task for laughing (via a tweet) at a joke made by Chelsea Handler about a woman who drove her car into a T-Mobile store in Florida. The woman was told that she could not get a free replacement for a damaged iPhone. As Legere noted in a tweet to Claure, “many lives were endangered & it was a criminal act. It’s actually not funny.”

But it seems as though there has been a change, at least on Claure’s part. On Thursday morning, …

Twitter launches big iOS app redesign, still no way to actually edit a tweet

Twitter has just launched a big redesign of its iOS app with fresh typography and it now uses a new side navigation tab.
You can get to the new navigation tab by simply tapping on your profile picture. There you’d find your profile, Moments, as well as other settings.
As for the rest of the app, it does look wider, with more blank space in between, and a more rounded look to icons. Instead of an arrow, you now have a bubble icon for your replies. Twitter says users thought it “meant delete …
