Cell Phone Recon Product Review – Track Your Child's Cell Phone

Cell Phone Recon Product Review

Product Overview:

Cell Phone Recon is software that gives you the ability to secretly monitor your cell phone. The software logs all of your incoming and outgoing text messages, call history, and emails. The software will also allow you to track your phone location via GPS, so if you lose your phone, or just want to check its location, you can easily find it. Perfect for monitoring your child’s phone, or even your spouse’s phone. Use to investigate suspicious behavior, or to get peace of mind.

The software is installed in “stealth mode” and runs completely hidden in the background, meaning that there are no traces of the monitoring software on your phone.

To view the logged information, simply log into the administration panel via any internet browser, and every text message, email, and ingoing/outgoing phone number will be listed. In addition, the exact street address will be listed next to each text message, phone call, or email, letting you know exactly where the phone was when any of those activities were logged.

For example, if your child text messages or calls you and says they are staying late at school to study, you can check to make sure they are really where they say they are.

Installation and Setup:

Installation is straightforward and simple. Cell Phone Recon comes with an installation web address and license key. Go to the web address on the mobile browser on your cell phone, enter the provided license key, and the phone will install the Cell Phone Recon software. Installation takes just a couple minutes, and when complete, the Cell Phone Recon software will be actively tracking and monitoring the activity on your chid’s cell phone.

Operation:

While the software is operating on your phone, you won’t see any notifications, windows, or indications that that all of your text messages, emails, calls, and GPS location is being monitored. This is for both ease of use and stealth operation. Phone activity is invisibly transmitted via your phone’s data connection.

Each product license can be installed only on one phone at a time, so if you get a new phone, or need to monitor a different phone, just uninstall the software, and re-install it on a new phone.

Viewing Phone History and GPS Location:

Reviewing call logs, emails, text messages, and logged GPS data from your phone is also straightforward. Log in to your administration panel on any internet browser with your username and password, and all of the data is presented to you in an easy to read table format. You can even sort the table by date, time, address, or phone number.

You can also export the logged phone data to a CSV file (used by Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet programs) for a quick and easy backup of all your phone usage history.

The GPS tracking feature has another convenient purpose – it records the location of where the phone is at when a particular logged action took place. So if you call your child, and they tell you they are staying late after school, you can verify this by looking at the location on a map. You can also see where the phone was when it sent or received a text message or email.

Compatibility:

Cell Phone Recon is compatible with most major smartphone brands – Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile, and Symbian OS. It has been tested to work with T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and many other US carriers. The one major smartphone that the Cell Phone Recon is not yet compatible with is the Apple iPhone, due to the fact that all programs that run on the iPhone must be approved and sold through Apple’s App Store. If you are looking to monitor an iPhone, you would need a product such as the iPhone Recovery iSpy Stick.

Pros:

  • Stealth operation for covert monitoring
  • Monitors and records all ingoing/outgoing emails, call history, text messages, and emails
  • View logged information from any internet browser
  • View GPS location of phone on Google Maps
  • Works on almost all major cell phone brands and service providers
  • One-time license fee gets you 5 years of unlimited monitoring

Cons:

  • Unable to work on Apple iPhone

Summary:

Overall, the Cell Phone Recon offers a very comprehensive set of cell phone monitoring features. With the ability to log every incoming and outgoing text message, email, detailed call history, and GPS location, this product is a very useful piece of monitoring software for smartphone owners.

Legal Disclaimer:

Cell Phone Recon can only be used to monitor phones that you own, for example, your child or spouse’s cell phone that you pay for. Using this software on a phone that is NOT yours may be illegal. Check all applicable state, local, and federal laws before using this product if you are unsure whether or not your intended use is legal.

Parenthood: 30 Things My Parents Did that Made All the Difference (Part 2)

Parenting, in many regards, is difficult. It requires work, persistence, and patience. The very word parenthood is synonymous with challenges, frustrations, and responsibility. However, parents everywhere will also collectively agree that parenthood is also the source of the greatest joy, satisfaction, happiness that life has to offer. All the work, responsibility, and even challenges are worth every effort and sacrifice. In fact, perhaps the reason why we experience so much happiness through parenthood is because we develop the most important attribute of life – that of unselfishness. Ironic that we actually find our lives through the losing of them!

Thankfully, I was fortunate enough to have two incredible parents – a father and mother who loved me, cared for me, taught me, disciplined me, and truly epitomized what successful parenthood is all about.  While they were not perfect (although close), they did certain things that I feel every parent would benefit from knowing, and especially emulating. Below are listed several things they did on a consistent basis that have made all the difference in mine and my siblings lives; as well as now the lives of my own children as I seek to implement what they taught and exemplified. (Only 15 are listed in this article; however, to view the first 15, please see part 1 in the Parenthood article series):

1) Be a Friend To Everyone: My parents went to great efforts to teach us kids to love, respect, be educated about and tolerant towards, and kind to everyone. I distinctly remember them teaching me in high school to be friends with those that don’t have friends and those I normally would not be friends with. In my ignorance, I thought ‘clicks’ would somehow disappear after high school; unfortunately for us all, they still exist. Thankfully, my parents helped us kids learn early on how to be friends with, reach out to, and love and appreciate everyone regardless of our differences.

2) We Ate Together as a Family … Daily: Eating dinner together as a family each night was not so much expected of us as it was a daily tradition we all looked forward to. Dinner time was a chance to be together as a family – to talk, laugh, teach, cry, ask questions, express concerns, have family counsels or planning time, and to love.

3) Fidelity & Commitment Were Foundational: Perhaps one of the greatest reasons that marriages and families fail or fall apart is due to the fact that parents become selfish, allow the immoral influences of the media to shape their decisions, and eventually disregard virtue, responsibilities, and commitments. Thankfully, I was raised in a home where I knew and saw and never questioned my parent’s commitment to each other. In thought, word, and action – they were completely true to each other. Does that mean they never faced trials, frustrations, challenges, or temptations? Of course not! What it means is they remained true to the commitments of marriage and the responsibilities of parenthood – despite what life challenged or tempted them with. And for that, my siblings and I will forever be grateful that our parents were true to each other, and to us as a family.

4) My Mother Read to Us Kids … Every Night: I honestly don’t remember too many books or stories, nor do I really remember learning anything significant (although I am sure I did) – what I do remember was being with and feeling loved by my mother on a daily basis.

5) We Were Involved & Balanced: Our parents went to great lengths to ensure that us kids were well-rounded, balanced, cultured, and involved. Each of us learned instruments, were involved in sports, were required to get good grades in school, participated in scouting, volunteered in community and church service, and got involved in extracurricular activities. Now, don’t think for a moment that I enjoyed practicing the piano every day, doing my homework before playing with friends, or always having to do the service projects for scouting or with church groups. (In fact, I am sure my mom hated listening to my piano practicing as much as I hated doing it). But like anything in life, we look back and express gratitude that our parents loved us enough to do the little things to teach us, ensure we were not culturally or racially ignorant, and ensure we were well-rounded and involved individuals.

6) There Was Daily Attention & Affection: I remember with fondness my mother simply playing with us kids. Rather than using the TV to babysit us, she would simply play with us, read to us, or just talk with us. She was there every day when we arrived home from school to hug us and ask how our day went. At night, and every night, our parents prayed with and for us – and sent us off to bed with a hug and a kiss. These are small things that made all the difference, because my siblings and I always felt loved, wanted, and appreciated.

7) My Parents Didn’t Live Their Dreams Through Us Kids: It is unfortunate how often I have seen a father, for example, live their boyhood dreams through their son. Failing to accomplish a dream is not shameful if you tried, and it certainly is no justification to demand and do everything to ensure a child accomplishes what you did not. How selfish and damaging to every child’s unique individual potential and desires is this all too common scenario. I personally am grateful that my parents did not live their dreams through me, and allowed me to pursue and excel at things that I found interesting, fun, and exciting.

8) Eat Everything On Your Plate: First of all, let me tell you how much I hated beets, yams, squash, and granola … but believe me when I say that I ate them (had to) every time they were served to me. My parents didn’t do this to torture me (although I felt otherwise as a child), but they obviously did it to teach me an important lesson – to not be picky. I think my parents knew that if I got my way early in life with simple things like not eating what was served to me – that most likely would translate into much larger and more worrisome things later in life.

9) My Parents Were Involved in My Social Life: What that means is that my parents cared and were concerned with what I was doing and who I was with. They talked to me often, creating an environment where I felt comfortable to come to them with questions, concerns, or when faced with peer pressure. Our home had an ‘open home’ policy where we were encouraged and felt comfortable inviting friends over. Thus, I not only felt my parents cared, but my parents knew my friends and could thus encourage or warn me against anything they saw or sensed. Was I always receptive to their counsel as a teenager? Of course not – what teenager is? But again, I am extremely grateful that they were involved and proactive enough that rules were set, discipline happened, and consequences were enforced. Likewise, love was shown, teaching happened, warnings were given, and praise and rewards always followed.

10) Proper Respect & Social Skills Were Taught: I remember my parents teaching me to look adults in the eye when I spoke with them, answer their questions, learn how to ask questions and hold a conversation, and to show adults proper respect.

11) Mom & Dad – Can I Have Some Money’: Again, I understand and respect the fact that each parent does things differently – and each child, home, and situation is different.  Thus, as with this and every principle mentioned in this article, I am not suggesting the way my parents did things was the right or only way – it was simply one way, and a way that was effective and worked. With that said, my parents never just handed over money to us kids (whether they could or not). Life doesn’t work that way, so neither did my parents. If we ‘wanted’ something, we had to earn it. If we ‘needed’ something, that was a different story. But, when us kids had ‘wants’ – we had to earn our money, we were never just handed money. Welcome to life and reality, right!

12) Education & Grades Were Extremely Important: Our parents set the example in getting good grades, as well as both of them getting higher education and advanced degrees.  School, learning, and getting good grades was simply just part of our family culture, tradition, and expectation.

13) They Never Gave Up & Had Faith in Our Potential: As mentioned earlier, parenting is extremely difficult. It takes time, patience, and consistent effort. Regardless of the little money we had, the challenges life threw at us, the mis-behaving of us children, or even the troubling years of raising eight (yes, eight) teenagers … they never gave up on us.  They always put forth effort to teach, nurture, love, discipline, and raise us. And perhaps just as significant, in the process they instilled within us that we each were someone special and had great potential within us. They inspired and encouraged us, had faith in us, and never quit on us – regardless of how hard it must have been for them at times.

14) ‘Don’t Prepare the Path for the Child, Prepare the Child for the Path’: My parents epitomized this great counsel!

15) Children Turn Out How You Talk To & About Them: I never remember my parents speaking unkindly to, complaining about, or talking to others in a negative way about their children. Did they at times get frustrated, upset, or disappointed? Of course – welcome to parenthood! But they always tried to build, compliment, and praise us kids.  Comparatively, a close friend my wife and I know is always talking negatively to and about her children (even with her children right there in front of her). As can be expected, this mother is experiencing some major problems with the behavior of her children.  Why? I believe it is because these children are simply becoming what they hear their mother saying to and about them.

16) Most Importantly – God Was First in Their Marriage, Our Home, & Our Family: Again, I understand and respect the fact that many reading this article may not necessarily have a belief in God. However, that does not negate the fact that this very principle was the foundational aspect of my parents successful marriage, the feeling in our home, and the reason my family has turned out the way it has. We put God first in all things, and as a result, everything else seemed to work out.

Tamil Nadu – A Big Contender for Attracting Investment in India

Tamil Nadu is an Indian state that lies in the southern part of the Indian Peninsula and is bordered by Pondicherry, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.  It’s the fifth largest contributor to India’s GDP and the most urbanized state in the country with the highest number of Business enterprises, pegged at 10.56%, compared to the overall population share of 6%.

With Chennai as its capital, Tamil Nadu is the seventh most populous state in India and has the fifth largest economy and the third highest Human Development Index out of 29 Indian states. The state’s economic growth was slowed by the Fiscal crisis that peaked in 1999/2000 forcing its government to implement wide ranging financial and structural reforms. The reform program impacted the economy with a good fiscal adjustment. The five policy notes from the government span fiscal reform and sustainability, improving investment environment, agricultural development, governance challenges and the state’s poverty profile.

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) has proposed to advance nearly Rs.13, 000 million for promotion of industries in the state in the fiscal year 2010/2011. Out of this, about Rs. 1000 million is earmarked for advancing loans for the existing industries and for starting new ventures.  The TIIC earned a profit of about Rs.400 million after a gap of several years for the year 2009/2010 fiscal calendar. The organization has been providing financial assistance at competitive interest rates for the setting up of new industrial units, expansion, modernization and the diversification of existing industries. The State plans to announce a new mining policy, in line with the national policy, this year.

The state’s GDP at 2007 stood at Rs. 2,750,000 million in current prices, a corresponding GDP growth rate of 12.1% for that period. The economy is split into: the services industry, contributing 45% of its economic activities; manufacturing, comprising 34%, and the agricultural sector taking 21%. However, the state’s government has been the major investor in the state with a total of 51% total investments followed by private investors at 29.9% and foreign investments at 14.9%. The city has about 110 industrial parks and efficient infrastructure that has been behind recent major economic successes. The Tamil Nadu Investors Association aims at educating small investors, protecting their interests and promoting investments and entrepreneurship in the state.

Major industrial successes in the state include multinationals and big Indian firms located in the region. They include BMW, Ford, Renault-Nissan, Caterpillar, Hyundai, Mitsubishi Motors, Ashok Leyland, Hindustan, TVS Motors, and Royal Enfield etc in the automobile industry while telecommunication giants include Nokia, Flextronics, Motorola, Sony-Ericsson, Foxconn, Samsung, Cisco, Dell and Moser Baer.

Overcoming Sleepless Nights, The Natural Way

In today’s world, sleep problems are an issue affecting many people. Whether they have too much on their mind to sleep or they simply can’t get comfortable in bed, sleep problems are something which can affect an individual both physically and mentally. Although there are numerous sleep aid products on the consumer market these days, there are various ways in which an individual can get a good night’s sleep, the natural way.

– Eliminate Caffeine Products a Few Hours Before Bedtime

Since consuming products laden with caffeine can interrupt one’s sleep and even prevent individuals from falling asleep, it is important to stay clear of these caffeine-containing products in the hours prior to bedtime. Doing so will better ensure the individual can fall asleep and stay asleep for the rest of the night. For those who would like a beverage in the hours before bedtime, decaffeinated coffee or herbal teas that do not contain any caffeine are great choices. This is a great alternative for those who want a coffee or tea product yet do not want the caffeine to affect their sleep.

– Take the Television Out of the Bedroom

One who wishes to get a good night’s sleep the natural way should consider removing their television from their bedroom. As many individuals like to watch television in bed, they are also the ones who may have a hard time falling asleep as they simply cannot turn the television off and get some shuteye. By not having a television in the bedroom to begin with, this will eliminate any TV temptations and promote good sleeping habits.

– Utilize Adequate Light-Blocking Blinds and Drapes

Another reason why some individuals may have a hard time getting to sleep at night is due to inadequate blinds and shades on their windows. Even at nighttime it is possible to have outside light affect one’s sleeping habits such as full moonlight, streetlights and house lights. Therefore, applying good blinds and shades to one’s windows will help to ensure that the night lights outside are sufficiently blocked out. It is easier to sleep when it is as dark in the bedroom as possible.

– Consider Purchasing an Adjustable Bed

Another wonderful option for overcoming sleepless nights the natural way is to utilize an adjustable bed. Frequently individuals have a hard time falling asleep because they simply are not comfortable in their sleeping positions. By purchasing an adjustable bed, the individual will be able to move their bed around to a position that promotes the best sleep possible for them.

– Summary

A good night’s sleep is extremely important. Not only will it make individuals feel better physically the next day but mentally as well. By following the aforementioned tips one can better ensure they will overcome sleepless nights, the natural way.

How To Establish Urban Garden For For Fun and Profit

HOW TO ESTABLISH  URBAN GARDEN FOR FUN AND PROFIT

Urban gardening is ideal in the city or town where your space for planting is limited. If you’re employed in the city and you’ve no time to go to the province to do your farming activities, then urban gardening is best for you.

Benefits you can get from urban gardening:

  • It could be therapeutic. Tending your plants early in the morning or after office hours relieves you from stress in the workplace and in the home.
  • It could be enjoyable. When you see your plants with attractive flowers and vigorous growth, your imagination wanders like you’re in heaven with a happiness and satisfaction you can’t explain.
  • Generate additional income. You can sell your extra plants to others if you think they are surplus for your personal needs. The city is a ready market because there are plenty of people and there’s the purchasing power.
  • Reduce waste accumulation. You can recycle used materials such as; tin cans and plastics, sachets, tin foils  for potting, Styrofoam for seed boxes, biodegradable products for composting, and others.

Strategies in Urban Gardening

  • Select the right crops to grow, depending on the purpose or purposes of going into urban gardening.
  • Identify a particular target market if you’re into commercial production.
  • Develop your own passion or specialization and concentrate on that line.
  • You can rent or borrow vacant lot.
  • You can use your roof top if you have any.
  • You can create plant boxes along your fence and walkways.
  • You can grow plants in pots and other containers.

What kind of plants are ideal for urban gardening

You can grow all kinds of plants from fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals.

  • Fruits. You can grow fruits if not in the ground, you can plant them in containers, e. g. citrus, guava, lemon, balimbing, etc.
  • Vegetables. Many varieties can be grown both in the ground and in containers.
  • Ornamentals. There are many types of ornamentals you can grow, depending on your target market, capital required, and your inclination in urban gardening.

Requirements you need to know in urban gardening

Before you enter into urban gardening, strictly observe the following requirements in order to be successful:

  • Water. Water is the most important item for any kind of plant. Without it, your gardening activities will be amiss. You have to consider the cost and continuous availability of water.
  • Soil media. If you intend to grow your plants in containers, soil or potting media are important. You should have available supply of it all the time.
  • Source of pots and containers. Try to know where to get the cheaper source and continuous supply for pots germinating trays of different hole sizes, and containers.
  • Tools and implements. All of these should be at hand for your gardening activities, such as shovel, hoe, pick mattock, spade, trowel, sprayer, tractor (with accessories for bigger areas), and others.
  • Manpower. Provide yourself with available workers to help you in the garden. Though you can do it yourself, but at least there is one you can trust to tend your plants when you’re out for some other business.
  • Materials and seeds. See to it that you have available of these materials and seeds in your nursery such as; seeds and other planting materials. Get your planting materials from reputable source or certified seed suppliers.

Improving unsuitable soil

When your place is stony or adobe and you think there is no more hope for the plant o grow, don’t panic, there is still remedy to improve it. The strategies to undertake are:

  •  Look for plants that will grow in rocks or adobe stones (rock gardening). There are plants that grow vigorously on rock such; balete tree, some cactus species, etc). Arrange them in such a way that they will not compete with space and sunlight.
  • Add garden soil or organic material such as manure, compost, and others. You can make holes on the rock just enough to hold the soil media in place for specific plants. For larger plants you can make bigger holes so that more soil media may be placed to sustain the growing period of the plants.
  • Look for possible sources.

How to earn profits from your urban garden

There are so many ways you can promote your urban garden to make it known to the public and earn you a profit.

The following tips can enhance your promotional strategies:

  •  Publish in all media outlets. Submit pictures of your garden and plants in magazines, TV, Internet, and newspapers to have a wider dissemination to the reading public.
  •  By word-of-mouth. Often times you invite some visitors for some special occasions like; birthdays, get together, Christmas parties, or any occasions you may establish.
  • Show to your guests your beautiful urban garden plants. You may give them as a  token out of your plants and tell them your plants are for sale if they have some friends interested to buy plants from you at discounted price.
  • Send brochures of your urban garden to gardening sites. Invite site owners to help you promote your urban garden plants for a percentage fee say 50-60% for the gross sale of your plants. This methods is called affiliates, resellers or partners wherein both of you earns an income. A win-win strategy.

10 Worst Celebrity Plastic Surgeries

10 worst cases of CELEBRITY PLASTIC SURGERIES that just went awfully wrong. There is so much emphasis on youth, being slender and beauty in much of the world. Especially, it is so true in the Western societies with billboards, TV, star news, the Internet and radio inundating our society with how important it is to have all three of those attributes, or you’re just not of value. Many women have gone under the knife due to this pressure.

Hang Mioku is a South Korean woman, 48, not necessary a star but she’s made repeated headlines in the celebrity news due to her insane addiction; Mioku manifests what happens with many plastic surgeries. She became so addicted to it that she injected cooking oil into her face ultimately. Yikes! As Hank Williams sang these words,”Hey good lookin’, what you got cookin’?”, he should have told Ms. Mioku to use the cooking oil for her dinner, not her face. Remember Muammar Gaddafi?

Heidi Montag had her old breast implants increased to DDDs, a nose job revision, a lipo on her stomach and thighs, a butt augmentation, a brow lift, etc, etc, etc.

Montag shocked the world when she underwent ten plastic surgery procedures in one day. Most of us either don’t know or have forgotten that Heidi has already had two plastic surgeries done prior to her big tune up. Watch out Heidi, don’t go any further otherwise Good God we don’t want to have you looking like Jocelyn Wildenstein down the road.

Jackie Stallone, the mother of Sylvester Stallone (Rocky Balboa in the movie Rocky). She looks like she’s been through some tough fights herself. Actually, her new face is after thousands of dollars worth of many plastic surgeries. Maybe after a few more surgeries she can look as good as her original face?

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop had multiple nose jobs, cheek implants; eyelid surgery, a cleft put in his chin. You name it he had it. He just had too many inappropriate operations.

As for Michael’s big sister LaToya Jackson, she must have used the same surgeon as Michael did before he died. The most obvious work LaToya has done is on her nose.

Pete Burns is a former member of Dead or Alive, who had the top single “You Spin Me Round”. He spent the fortune he earned from his successful music career on reconstructive surgeries after a botched plastic surgery on his lips. It appears he should have kept the money.

Jocelyn Wildenstein, this is the formerly beautiful billionairess socialite Wildenstein, who is also being referred to as the Bride of Frankenstein. She reportedly spent millions on plastic surgeries to win back her estranged husband. He may have run even faster after the surgeries! Joan Rivers, has had facelift, eye tuck, nose job, Botox, etc, etc etc.

Mickey Rourke undergone face reconstructive surgery. Rourke, the once boxer turned Hollywood heartthrob went back to boxing in the early 90s; and Mickey suffered a lot of physical injuries including facial scars. Mickey said he had gone to “the wrong guy” for his surgery and that his plastic surgeon had left his features “a mess.”

Lisa Rinna had inflated lips and face filler. Rinna’s famously inflated lips have been deflated as she has admittedly had a surgical procedure done to reduce them. (Thank God) As for the face filler?

Discussing Muscles and Bodybuilding Techniques

As my friend Mick Hart says, you have been around the muscle game a good while Pete, true 68 years in fact. By the way I have not been in the muscle game for 68 years, that is my age.

Some time ago a great friend of mine, top strength historian, David Gentle wrote a rather flattering article on myself, thanks David, we in the “Iron Game” are very lucky to have the two top authors in the strength and bodybuilding world. David Gentle and David Webster OBE, I had better give him his full title or I will be in trouble.

One of the greatest physiques of all time was George Hackenschmidt, why do these top bodybuilders have such difficult names to spell, I still can’t spell Arnold Schwarzenegger. Quite a number of top actors are keen bodybuilders, Dave Prowse who played Darth Vader in Star Wars, (A big friend of Dave Websters), he was also the Green Cross Code man, to help children crossing busy roads.

While doing national service in Gibraltar, I did my first weight lifting, the bloke in charge of one of the guns, had made himself a solid lead dumbell to keep in shape. I rather surprised him by lifting it with one hand to prove I was not just a pretty face). No doubt many of your readers will know I used to do TV and film extra work, before I moved to the flat, I had to give it up because of stress and Multiple Sclerosis, it was just too much. However I did meet many interesting and nice people and some who were absolute shits, I will not name those I consider shits, or my friend Mick will have a court case on his hands. I will only name the nice people, mostly the bigger stars they are the more decent they are.

In those days I was a member of Equity and lived in Marple, I used to give Bruce Jones a lift before he became very well known as Les Battersby in Coronation Street. I was doing my charity collecting for the Stockport branch of MS and Bruce spotted me and shouted through his car window, “Hiya Pete, see you in a minute”, the organiser of the collection did not recognise him and walked over to his car and asked if he could help, Bruce said no I have just seen Pete he is a mate of mine. I have several sister in-laws, six in all one who lives in Marple, was not in the room when brains were given out, however I introduced her to Bruce, she said “Hey you are in Coronation Street”. Bruce grinned and said, “That’s right love. No comment!”

Two of the top TV stars I chatted to were Patricia Routledge (Mrs Bucket) and Charles Dance who gave me my Sunday name of Peter, both very nice people, I was in the film, Century, Charles Dance being the star.

Looking through my old copies of No Bull I spotted a photo of Geoff Morris a former over 50’s Mr Britain, also a champion 6in nail breaker, who Dave Webster credits showing him the correct technique for breaking 6in nails. Geoff was a smashing person, we did a double strength act on wrestling shows, I used to meet him at a nice pub once a month, which was half way for both of us.

I know my friend Jim Bartlett bought some of Geoffs collection. How do I know? because I took Jim to Geoffs lodgings when he died, a sad day for all.

Jim got a job at a sheltered Jewish home complex, not being Jewish he soon moved on, (it is not true he got the sack for asking Jewish kids what their Christian names were.) Jim worked for our old friend Harold Wrigley, packaging and posting his health foods. No doubt many of us know Harold’s wife who died suddenly, a smashing girl was Joyce, she used to pack all Harold’s products before Jim took over. Last I heard of Harold he had gone to live in Spain, with his third wife, he must like wedding cake!

I read Black American show host, Montel Williams has MS, he also trains for bodybuilding like me to keep his MS at bay. I might add Montel has quite a good physique, he did a back pose to prove his point on one of his shows.

I would like to thank Pete Lindrop for his contribution to this blog.

Caught in a Stress Storm?

Imagine you’re on your way to meet friends at a bar. You’re late and stuck behind a slow-moving van when the entire street lurches into darkness. Suddenly that man crossing the street in front of you looks like a potential robber. The cars around you seem to be hemming you in. Everyone and everything appears dangerous. You’ve gone from slightly stressed to completely strung-out in an instant.

When you finally get to the bar, your friends are deep in conversation about blackouts, crime and their plans to leave the country. What should have been a light-hearted, fun-filled evening has turned into one riddled with anxiety.

It’s as though a cloud of dark heaviness is hanging above us right now. Most of us are unaware of the extent to which worrying issues are affecting us. But if a high level of stress continues over a long period, paralyzing feelings of being overwhelmed can set in.Many of us could be in the heart of what is termed as a ‘stress storm’. Have you ever been in the situation where, because of stress, you couldn’t remember the name of one of your own family members? Perhaps you’re stuck in a depression, or maybe you’ve accomplished something great but the next morning you don’t want to get out of bed because you’re so down.

These are indications that you are caught in a stress storm – a place filled with fear and confusion, where you’re no longer thinking rationally. If this sounds familiar, read on to understand better what’s happening to you – and how to get to grips with it.

Why are we so Stressed?

In the USA we have a set of stressors to contend with – high crime rates, rising costs of food and gas, and an economic situation in which retrenchments are increasingly common. These compound everyday stressors such as work, family conflicts and financial pressures. We don’t let our bodies or minds relax, and develop distorted perceptions about ourselves – for example, we may think we’re accepted only if we’re performing well.

When people are taxed on so many levels, their resilience rapidly erodes. Most people can deal with one stressful area in their lives – even two – but few people can function optimally when every area of their life is affected by instability and stress.

Stress Poisoning

Our bodies are built to handle stress in short, sharp bursts, but when there is no let-up, stress can in fact be toxic for our bodies. When we’re stressed, our adrenal glands pump out cortisol. This ‘stress hormone’ is preparing our muscles for the fight-or-flight response triggered when our lives are in danger. All energy is diverted from other functions, such as digestion, giving our bodies a burst of energy to ensure we can fight or flee if necessary. Modern stressors, however, such as traffic jams, don’t come and go quite as fast as, say, an attacking buffalo. Consequently, the cortisol and adrenaline that our stressors produce never leave our bodies – our lives are constantly turned to a high-alert setting.

On a physical level – which is where symptoms are easiest to detect and treat – stress may show up as migraines, headaches, muscle aches and pains, skin breakouts (acne, psoriasis, eczema) and stomach problems (including irritable bowel syndrome and constipation). Emotionally, we become more prone to outbursts of temper, mood swings and negativity. Mentally, we feel less able to cope. Our outlook becomes distorted and it becomes very difficult to keep our perspective. Highly stressed people become ‘reactive’. This means they react more to everything in their lives, from the lack of milk in the fridge to the geyser bursting. We become so overwhelmed that we literally get ‘beside ourselves’.

Living on Autopilot

Jane, 27, a fashion planner, knows this feeling all too well. While working in a high-pressure corporate fashion job reporting to a demanding boss, she was being pushed to work longer hours and perform tasks she didn’t feel prepared for.

‘As the pressure built up over about five months, I began feeling increasingly anxious. My short-term memory started to let me down and I would forget things I was meant to do. For example, I’d walk into a room and then go blank, forgetting why I was there. I felt confused all the time and began talking more slowly and slurred my words. I lost a lot of weight and at the height of my stress my right arm would get very tense and feel taut. It’s a scary place to be. It can feel as though you don’t know yourself – as though you’re having a mental meltdown.’

This feeling is not uncommon. Stressed people often describe themselves as being on autopilot – as though they’re participating in the show of their own life, but not starring. They’re overwhelmed and often feel clumsy, awkward and off-centre. They may forget names of people or even the names of simple, everyday objects. This is due to the prolonged periods of cortisol production, but also, because we’re trying to remember too many things.

High levels of stress can affect our relationships too. Some people, like Jane, are too tired to go out and socialize, and often feel they’re a burden on other people. ‘Friends tried to help,’ remembers Jane. ‘I’d lost a lot of weight so they could see I was in distress but they didn’t really know how to help other than telling me to chill out’.

Others may drink more to be more sociable or in an attempt to forget, so the glass of wine suddenly turns into a bottle of wine. According to research women could be more prone to developing stress-related addictions (such as cocaine addiction) than men. The good news, though, is that stress is our body’s way of telling us to do something. But what?

The suggestions below are a good start. Don’t knock them for sounding obvious – at least not till you’ve actually tried them.

Stress Busters

Gain Perspective

Understand that there are certain things in your life that you have control over and others that you don’t. If, for example, you are concerned about the political situation, vote. If you’re concerned about crime, join or start a neighborhood-watch program. Be proactive about things you can influence and let go of those you can’t.

Breathe

At work, if you find yourself getting stressed or anxious, go somewhere quiet and concentrate on your breathing. Imagine your breathing is like waves breaking on a beach. Maintain a regular rhythm. Imagine you are breathing all the way down to your toes when you breathe in, and all the way back up again as you breathe out.

Eat Well

Don’t hand your power over to food and drink. That fatty hamburger isn’t going to release your stress. Rather ask, ‘What will this drink or food do to my body over the long term?’ Cut down on sugar. Sugar gives you a temporary lift followed by a downer. If you’re craving something sweet, try eating fruit or a handful of nuts. Drink lots of water. Stress tends to dehydrate the body. Keeping your body hydrated will lessen stress symptoms such as fatigue and headaches.

Exercise More

One of the most effective ways of dealing with stress is to exercise. Try to do some form of exercise at least three times a week for 30 to 60 minutes.

Develop a Positive Internal Dialogue

This is a powerful way to help ourselves when we’re stressed. We tend to feel anxious about things we have no control over (the future, other people), and most of what we fear never happens. Remain in the moment. If you start to stress about tomorrow, remind yourself that you can only live today – tomorrow does not yet exist.

Talk to a Professional

Jane consulted a psychologist, who helped her see that getting through her stress storm meant removing herself from her stressful job. ‘I took three months off, stayed home and just slept, watched TV and did nothing.’ She saw her psychologist for a few months and gradually became her old self again, but this time with the tools to recognize and avoid another stress storm.

Krav Maga – How to defend yourself on the street

Krav Maga – How to defend yourself on the street

This was the keyword: self-defense. My schoolmates bullied me when I was in school. It was not often but sometimes I was the guy who got knocked by children who wanted to show how tough they are. On my school bullying children was like an entry ticket to a girls, you know what I mean. Also if you are a girl, in fact a fat and ugly one, the boys bullyied you. Doesn’t matter. The main reason was to look strong.

When I remember this time I laugh only. Yes, I am not a boy maybe but who said self-defense is for boys only? I decided to learn self defense when I was confronted with a bad situation the first time in my life. It was at 9 pm. You have to know, here where I live, it is not safe on the streets especially if you are a woman. Perverted men will bother and try to get what they want. Let us not go deeper in the details. You just have to know that those perverts are not friendly and they will not let you go easily.

2 weeks ago it happened: I was at my friend Laura. We watched Tv but I noticed it was late outside and I did not come with the car because the only way I have to pass were 3 streets. bad luck. because this evening the Jenny everyone knew before would change. Three guys came to my direction. I knew something was wrong and I had to go faster. When I tried to walk faster they whistled and called hey babe, where are you going? Stop for a moment! Hah, I definitely are not about to stop and began to run. One of them was drunk I guess, when I passed them he grabbed my arm and the other one with bad breath laughed at me and grabbed my boobs. I kicked him into his balls and ran as fast as I can. Back at home I started crying…

Finally laying in my bed I started thinking. What to do if it happens again? Or worse, if I see this guys again? I was crying and could not sleep.

I started to find for a solution: Self-defense! I used every keyword I could imagine to find the perfect one. I will not explain how I came to Krav Maga, but I finally did. This system is by far one of the best and realistic systems out there. And the best thing was, I could learn it online!
