Altec Lansing True EVO Wireless Earbuds Review

Altec Lansing – it’s a brand that you’re probably acquainted with, as it has been in the consumer audio electronics space for a long time. But even though the company has no shortage of experience when it comes to audio, it’s definitely entering new territory with its first major venture into the true wireless earbuds space. The Altec Lansing True EVO Wireless Earbuds seem promising for a first-time effort, especially with their sub-$100 price out of the gates, but do they have enough value to be a better choice over the handful of other options we’ve seen recently in …

True bargain: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 for $180

Buy here

Samsung’s Note line is insanely feature-packed and has recently become incredibly expensive, too, with a starting price of $950. When we reviewed the Galaxy S9+ vs the Note 8, we noted (he-he) that you should only get the phablet if you care about the S Pen stylus, since the S9 has the newer hardware and lower price tag.
And, really, the stylus experience with Samsung’s S Pen is exceptional. Anyone …

The perfect pair of true wireless headphones

Since I’ve been back with PhoneArena, I’ve been focusing the majority of my time and efforts into covering wireless Bluetooth headphones. Not just your standard Bluetooth headphones and headsets, but rather, the budding “true wireless” segment that has been seeing tremendous growth over the course of the last few years – much more than the traditional stuff we’re accustomed to seeing. That’s mainly due to how they’re designed to be independent, no longer having the left and right channels tethered with some sort of connection or bridge.

When we started seeing the first batch of …

B&O Beoplay E8 True Wireless Earphones Review

Bang & Olufsen, it’s a name you know and probably trust when it comes to audio. Given how many phone manufacturers have chosen them to be their premium audio partner, it shouldn’t be a surprise to know that its subsidiary, B&O Play, is tackling the ever-growing market for true wireless headphones. With the B&O Beoplay E8, it’s an unmistakable premium offering that intends on keeping audio aficionados content from making the switch from wired to truly wireless. But with a hefty cost of $299, will it deliver enough of the goods to justify buying them over other mainstream solutions …

It's true, Samsung Galaxy S9 will launch with the new DeX Pad

We reported last month that Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S9 will come with a brand new Dex Pad. Obviously, customers will be able to purchase the accessory separately, but we can’t help but wonder whether or not Samsung and/or some retailer won’t run some promotions that will offer the Galaxy S9 bundled with the DeX Pad.

In any case, it looks like that rumor was pretty accurate since we’ve just learned that Samsung trademarked the DeX Pad name in Europe. Filed on December 29, the application comes in time for a Mobile World Congress (MWC) reveal …

Best true wireless headphones of 2017

When it comes to the Bluetooth wireless headphones space, the greatest innovation we’ve seen lately has been the leap into the “true wireless” segment – headphones that are no longer tethered to one another. Instead, these so-called “true wireless” headphones provide more dexterity mainly due to how each earbud is technically independent. Now that the first-generation of true wireless headphones are behind us, 2017 welcomed several second-gen products that aimed specifically to grow the segment even more.

From the big names in the space like Apple and Samsung, to some of those startups …

Nova True Wireless Headphones Review

If you’re in the market for a pair of those fancy true wireless headphones, say like the Apple AirPods or Samsung Gear IconX, you must surely know by now that they don’t come cheap – easily costing you upwards around $200 in most instances! At less than half the cost of its esteemed competitors, TRNDlabs’ Nova True Wireless earbuds seem like they’re a dream come true with its irresistible price of $79.00. Leaked Vivo Xplay 7 slides tout true 'all-screen' phone with hidden finger scanner

Make of it what you will, but it was not Samsung or Apple, and rather the Chinese phone maker Vivo (which shares a parent company with OnePlus) that showcased a working prototype of a phone with under-display finger scanner, based on its Xplay 6 model. Now, for the Xplay 7 next year, Vivo might have polished the technology enough to place it in a retail device, leaked intracompany presentation slides suggest.

Vivo uses Qualcomm’s ultrasonic tech that is not as elaborate as the one from Synaptic, but given that both Apple and Samsung reportedly struggled …

Wireless headphones, they’re all the rage nowadays. The JLab Audio Epic Air Wireless follows the trend we’ve been seeing, a pair of Bluetooth earbuds that are independent …

A true edge-to-edge screen: a new prototype phone shows what the future could look like

“Bezel-less” phones with taller, 18:9 screens are becoming the norm among flagships as they maximize screen real estate, but making a true bezel-less phone is hard. For starters, you have an earpiece and a front camera to think about, as well as a range of other sensors. So how do you do it?

Here is an idea: resurrect the old slider form factor of phones. Sounds crazy, but it makes sense as the bottom slide out part can actually house all of those things.
After all, you don’t want anything interrupting the all-screen design. And yes, phones might end …
