Lost dog rescued from an abandoned mine shaft turns out to be a total superstar

There are two types of “lost pet” stories: The happy ones, where good Samaritans lend a helping hand and everything works out in the end, and the unhappy ones, which we don’t talk about.

Well. Here we are, talking. I’ll let Portia Scovern, the non-canine hero of this story, explain (via her Facebook post):

A subsequent update on Ms. Scovern’s post confirms that the owner was located within a day. The little pup — whose name is Cheyenne — had been missing for just over two weeks, but her human caught wind of the Facebook post and stepped up to recover his furry friend.

In comments on Ms. Scovern’s Facebook post, owner Michael Captain expressed confusion over the idea that Cheyenne could have fallen down the abandoned mine shaft. As it turns out, she’s an extreme hiking dog! Read more…

Streaming music sales accounted for 62% of total U.S. music revenue during the first half of 2017

According to the RIAA, streaming music is now responsible for the vast majority of stateside music purchases. Altogether, sales of tunes in the U.S. during the first half of this year hit $4 billion, up 17% year-over-year. At this pace, last year’s total of $7.7 billion in music sales should be topped. Streaming made up $2.5 billion of this year’s first half revenue, which amounts to a whopping 62% of industry sales. Right now, there are 30 million people in the states that are signed up to a streaming music service.

Rome: Total War – Alexander standalone expansion coming to iPads this summer

Those of you who are into real-time strategy games and own an iPad might have probably heard about SEGA’s Total War franchise. The highly-acclaimed series made its way to iOS a while ago, but if you want more, you’ll be pleased to know that developer Feral Interactive has another title in the pipeline.

The studio has just announced plans to launch yet another standalone expansion for Rome: Total War. The game will be released on iPads sometime this summer, and it will be called “Alexander.”

Instagram Stories hits 250 million active daily users and surpasses Snapchat’s total users count

Instagram’s Stories feature has hit a whopping count of 250 million daily users – or a quarter of a billion – after having report a 200 million count only two months ago. It now surpasses Snapchat’s 166 million (as of May) total daily active users by a wide margin and currently seems hardly reachable, even though some people suggest it copied Stories from Snap.
