Apple iPhone X usage tops that of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus during their respective launch weekends

Localytics, a firm that deals with mobile analytics, measured app usage globally on 70 million iOS devices to come up with usage rates for individual iPhone models. According to this bit of analysis, the adoption of the Apple iPhone X during its opening weekend topped the initial weekend of usage for the combined Apple iPhone 8 and Apple iPhone 8 Plus. The latter two were launched on September 22nd while the iPhone X launched on November 3rd.

According to IHS Markit, the Apple iPhone 7 was the best selling smartphone globally during the first half of 2017. The Apple iPhone 7 Plus was next followed by the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus. The latter is a low-priced entry level model sporting a 5-inch screen carrying a 540 x 960 resolution. 2015’s Apple iPhone 6s was in fourth place with the Samsung Galaxy S8 taking fifth place. Apple barely tops iPhone sales forecast for fiscal Q3; shares hit record high after hours

Apple this afternoon, reported sales of 41.03 million units of the Apple iPhone for the company’s fiscal third quarter. That narrowly beat Wall Street expectations of 40.7 million handsets forecast to be sold during the period. Year-over-year, the sale of iPhone units rose 2% for the fiscal third quarter, 3% if comparing revenue. On a sequential basis, 19% fewer iPhone units were sold during the fiscal third quarter compared to the fiscal second quarter. On a revenue basis, sequential sales declined 25%.
