Amazon drops lock screen ads from its Prime Exclusive phones starting tomorrow

Consumers looking for a deal on a smartphone have been able to save anywhere from $25 to $100 off the retail price by buying them from Amazon, as long as they didn’t mind being forced to watch lock screen ads. Starting tomorrow, February 7th, Amazon is no longer forcing these ads on Prime Exclusive buyers. And those who already own a Prime Exclusive model will receive a software update that removes the ads from their phones. While the ads are gone, new Prime Exclusive models will still come with pre-installed apps from Amazon.

Android Oreo beta for Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ ends tomorrow (January 26th)

Samsung sent out a message to those Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ users who have been beta testing the Android 8.0 (Oreo) update. Besides thanking participants for their cooperation in being part of the beta program, the company said that the beta testing for the 2017 flagship models will end on January 26th, which happens to be tomorrow. Samsung says that it now looks forward to releasing the official Android 8.0 update as soon as possible.

Verizon sent out an update today for the LG V20, which contains the November Android security patch and software version VS99518A. Tomorrow, we expect to see Big Red push out updates to the Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, the LG G6, the Moto Z2 Force and the Moto Z Play. Starting tomorrow, October 20th at 3pm EDT, Pokemon GO players will start to notice the latest Halloween treats from game developer Niantic. First, you can change your avatar for the event by having it wear Mimikyu’s Disguise Hat.
