Olympic figure skater performs 'Game of Thrones' routine and people loved it

There are plenty of ways to impress the judges at the Winter Olympics, but using a popular TV show is pretty genius.

Channeling his best Jamie Lannister, German figure skater Paul Fentz completed his free skate routine Saturday morning during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games to some inspiring music from Game of Thrones

While we would have loved to have seen Fentz battle on the ice to the iconic and easily recognizable GoT theme song, the rendition he chose to perform was enough to rile up fans of the show. Read more…

Peter Dinklage is ready for 'Game of Thrones' to be over

TwitterFacebook

Peter Dinklage is out in Utah to rep his new movie I Think We’re Alone Now at the annual Sundance Film Festival and — of course — he’s fielding questions about Game of Thrones.

HBO’s hit series is set to conclude with its eighth season in 2019, Dinklage seems like he’s ready to bid farewell to Tyrion Lannister in an interview with Variety.

“It’s time,” he said. “Storywise, not just for all our lives. It’s the perfect time to end it. Sometimes shows stay on a little too long, the jumping-the-shark thing.”

Dinklage admits there are “bittersweet” feelings in saying goodbye to a cast and crew he’s come to know over the course of eight seasons. But the “not just for all our lives” comment is telling of the show’s success, and the fame that’s followed each of its stars over the years. Read more…

Jon and Daenerys finally hooked up on 'Game of Thrones' and boy, people are conflicted

Spoilers for the season finale of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is a show that knows its way around an incest plotline, so people shouldn’t have been too surprised when, in the final moments of the Season 7 finale, Jon and Daenerys finally pushed through a season of awkward, charged moments and had sex on a boat while Tyrion hung out in the hallway.

Anyway, because the show was kind enough to take the extra step of confirming for fans that, yup, these two are definitely related right before the big moment happened, people were … conflicted about the proceedings. Read more…

Will the most hyped 'Game of Thrones' fight ever finally go down in the season finale?

TwitterFacebook

Sometimes Game of Thrones theories are less theory and more straight up hype. And, in one case, the hype is just too real.

Cleganebowl is a prediction that has stayed with the Game of Thrones fandom since the days of yore, in 2013. Essentially, it’s fueled by the dream of watching the two most feared fighters in all of Westeros, the Hound and the Mountain (who are also brothers), face off in a fight to the death.

At this point, Cleganebowl is like a religion, with its own fervent following, hashtag, and dedicated subreddit. What is lacks in canonical evidence, it certainly makes up for in pure rad-ness factor. Read more…

'Game of Thrones' prequel writer teases future shows and we're already stressed about it

You might feel like it’s too soon to think about the Game of Thrones spinoffs HBO has in the pipeline, but consider this counterpoint: It’s not.

Screenwriter Jane Goldman, who will pen at least one of the prequels planned for after Thrones concludes in 2018, spoke to IGN about what her series would include — and she kept it deliberately, maddeningly vague.

“I think as a book reader or as someone who watched the series, you would say, ‘Oh, that! OK.'” Goldman said of her series. “Yeah, it would be recognizable as a past event, but I think that’s probably as far as I can go.” Read more…

Apparently 'Game of Thrones' dragons enjoy the smell of Jon Snow

TwitterFacebook

Spoilers below for Game of Thrones Season 7, episode 5. So don’t act like you haven’t been warned.

We FINALLY learned last year that Jon Snow is, in fact, a Targaryen. And it looks like the dragons have now caught wind of it, too.

During tonight’s “Eastwatch,” as Dany flew back to Dragonstone on Drogon after wholesomely burning alive a father and his son, we saw Khaleesi’s favorite son saunter right up to Jon, who was brooding on a clifftop for some reason. The dragon first screamed in his face (not the best thing to do when introducing yourself) and then leaned in to get a closer look/sniff. Read more…

'Game of Thrones' brought back someone we've sorely missed, and we're screaming

Spoilers below for Game of Thrones Season 7, episode 5. So don’t act like you haven’t been warned.

Game of Thrones is in the business of reunions and resurrecting old favorites this season, and “Eastwatch” brought back none other than King Robert Baratheon’s beloved bastard Gendry.

The blacksmith’s apprentice who fled King’s Landing with Arya Stark and sailed away from Stannis Baratheon waaaaayyyyy back in Season 3 reunited with Davos Seaworth in Fleabottom in tonight’s episode… and then gets into another freaking boat.

Winter is here and so is the Night King in next week's 'Game of Thrones'

TwitterFacebook

Shit’s about to get real on Game of Thrones, and that probably means the body count is about to rise.

We all know that the penultimate episode of every season is when the dragon dung hits the fan, and with only seven episodes in Season 7, the sixth installment promises to be a showstopper, as Jon and his allies venture North of the Wall to capture a White Walker and blow this whole conspiracy wide open.

It’ll be Jon’s first showdown with the Night King since Hardhome, and while he has a band of Westeros’ brawniest brawlers with him, the teaser trailer for next Sunday’s episode implies that they’re a smidge outnumbered. Read more…

Gilly's nighttime reading on 'Game of Thrones' may have just changed everything

TwitterFacebook

Sometimes, Game of Thrones characters spend years chasing mysteries, risking life and limb to dig up secrets that have the potential to shake up the entire playing board as we know it.

And then other times, they casually stumble across them while enjoying a bit of light bedtime reading.

In this week’s episode of Game of Thrones, Gilly unearths a bombshell with potentially life-changing consequences for Dany, Jon … and the entirety of the Seven Kingdoms, really.

While paging through the records of the former High Septon Maynard, Gilly asks Sam about a word she doesn’t understand. “What’s annulment?” Read more…

'Game of Thrones' episode 5 sets up a Westerosi Western that we want. Right. Now.

TwitterFacebook

This recap is dark and full of spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 7, episode 5, “Eastwatch.”

Two queens at war. Neither can see past each other to the far greater threat.

Each needs to be convinced, immediately, or this whole Westeros thing goes to hell. And so the many men beneath their heels must go forth and bring forth the evidence.

An adventure is required. A posse is formed.

Next up: A Westerosi Western.

That’s pretty much the grand equation of “Eastwatch,” episode 5 of this seventh season of Game of Thrones, a scattershot clockwork of updates and minor machinations, paltry plot pivots and pirouettes that had our heads spinning. Nothing happened, yet somehow everything changed. Read more…
