New BlackBerry Motion video promises "32+ hours of battery life" in a phone that's built to last

Not long after we saw the very first official BlackBerry
Motion promo video, we’re now treated with a second look at this interesting, yet to be released
smartphone. As you can see above, BlackBerry Mobile says the Motion is a
device that’s built to last, as it’s got a strong aluminum frame, a
“premium” anti-scratch display, and a dust- and water-resistant design
(IP67-certified).
Equally important, BlackBerry promises “32+ hours of
battery life” from the 4000 mAh battery that’s found inside the Motion – hopefully,
this means that, on a single charge, the phone will keep its lights …

OnePlus 5 "more popular" than OnePlus assumed it would be – that's why you can no longer buy it

Last week, OnePlus stopped selling the OnePlus 5 in the US and various other markets, prompting us
to believe that a OnePlus 5T (or maybe a OnePlus 6) would be announced in the
near future.

While OnePlus has yet to mention anything about a new
handset, one of the company’s co-founders did comment on the fact that the
OnePlus 5 is no longer available to buy. More exactly, Carl Pei took to Twitter
to say the following: “Guess the OnePlus 5 was more popular than we
thought.” No sales numbers were provided, but the was in that
sentence suggests that OnePlus is no longer producing its current …

AT&T launches Threat Defender, an Android app that's not meant to protect your smartphone

File this under “carriers do wacky things” to please customers. The “culprit” in this case? AT&T, which has just launched an Android app called Threat Defender. Even the most non-tech savvy consumers would probably think that the new app launched by the US carrier is meant to protect their smartphones.

Alas, AT&T Threat Defender is purely an entertainment app that’s only good to “protect” you from boredom for a little while. If you haven’t guessed it yet, Threat Defender is an interactive game that’s available to everyone who owns a device running Android 2.3 and up.

It’s …

Download this: the new anonymous app that's going viral with teens

TwitterFacebook

Another anonymous app is at the top of the App Store and it might be because it’s figured out anonymous apps’ biggest problem: bullying.

Called “tbh,” short for “to be honest,” the app takes an unconventional approach to anonymity. While it allows friends to anonymously communicate, it only allows users to exchange compliments, which are sent via in-app quizzes.

The app, which is aimed at middle schoolers and high schoolers, connects to your address book so you can find people you know. It serves up a series of “polls” about your friends. The questions change but they are all positive, asking you to choose the “world’s best party planner,” or who is “too lit to be legit.” Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Well, we can stop calling it “Star Wars Land” now. Disney has finally announced the official name for the Star Wars-themed zone that’s coming to Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.”

Yeah, I’m probably still gonna refer to it as “Star Wars Land.”

In addition, Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks & Resorts, served up a host of new details about what parkgoers can expect from Star Wars Land Star Wars: Galaxy’s EdgeNot that we needed convincing – but hey, we’re not about to complain.  Read more…

Norway's Slow TV encounters a weird problem: TV that's too slow

TwitterFacebook

The producers of Norway’s smash-hit “Slow TV” genre have captivated audiences with videos of a 134-hour-long cruise voyage and 13 hours of people knitting.

But sometimes even Slow TV can be too slow.

Norway’s public broadcaster NRK recently suspended a show following the progress of migratory reindeer because the animals stopped moving, The Local reported, citing Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.

The latest addition to this hypnotizing genre followed the spring migration of reindeer from their winter home on the inland Finnmark plains to the coastal summer grazing areas on Kvaløya island.  Read more…

FYI, Nokia owns the Alcatel smartphone brand that's licensed to TCL

Nokia acquired Alcatel-Lucent, the French telecom equipment company, back in 2016, to better compete with the likes of Huawei in the network infrastructure industry.

If you have minimum knowledge about the mobile phone market, then you most likely have heard about Alcatel, a brand that’s very popular at the mid- and low-tier. It turns out that the Alcatel brand was among the assets owned by the French company when Nokia announced its acquisition.

Clearly, that means that after the acquisition the Alcatel smartphone brand would belong to Nokia. However, …

Garmin's Vivosmart 3 looks like every other fitness tracker that's already on the market

When it comes to fitness trackers, room for innovation is quickly dissipating. All devices in this category serve the same general purpose of tracking your physical activity throughout the day, and while there’s nothing wrong with this, it does create for a lot of similar-looking and feeling products. The folks over at Wearable claim to have gotten their hands on newly leaked renders of an upcoming Garmin Vivosmart 3, and if these pictures are anything to go by, we’re in for somewhat of a snoozer.

Wearable doesn’t say where it obtained these photos from, and while there are some …
