Render of Verizon Ellipsis 10 HD tablet surfaces

Verizon subscribers might be aware that the nation’s largest carrier offers its own Verizon branded line of Android powered tablets. Called the Verizon Ellipsis, the first model was launched in 2013 with a 7-inch display. Since then, Big Red has added 8-inch and 10-inch versions of the slates. Last November, it hiked the resolution on the 8-incher from 800 x 1280 to 1200 x 1920, and upgraded the chipset to the Snapdragon 617. It also changed the name to the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD while jettisoning the older model from its lineup.

Now, it appears that Verizon plans on doing something similar …

Moto alphabetical road map surfaces during presentation

Yesterday, we showed you a video of a presentation that starred the Moto X (2017). According to reliable tipster Evan Blass, the phone will actually be known as the Moto X4. Speaking of Blass, this evening he disseminated a tweet containing a photograph that apparently was taken during the same presentation. We know that because the same people looking at the Moto X4 in yesterday’s video, are looking at what we shall call an alphabetical road map of the next generation Moto releases.

According to the image shared by Blass, the Moto alphabetical road map includes:

Sony 'Xperia X Ultra' surfaces with 6.4-inch, 21:9 display

If you’re familiar with the new LG G6 and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 duo, you’ll have noticed a recurring theme with regards to their displays. The G6’s screen touts an 18:9 aspect ratio while the panels of the S8 duo are 18.5:9 — both essentially twice as tall as they are wide. The idea seems to be that users can navigate more content without the device becoming too unwieldy, and with plenty of streamed video being filmed at 2:1 these days, it makes overall sense. With LG and Samsung having laid down their cards, it’s only natural that other OEMs will begin to follow suit, and a new leak suggests that …

Motorola Moto E4 Plus surfaces, 5000mAh juicer in tow

Earlier this month, we all were flabbergasted and astounded when the FCC documentation for the Motorola Moto E4 Plus revealed that the phone would carry a 5000mAh battery. While Motorola has shoehorned high capacity batteries into past DROID models, this would be the largest battery every carried by a Motorola handset eclipsing the 3900mAh cell found on the Motorola DROID Turbo. And the Moto E4 Plus, unlike the DROID Turbo, is far from being a flagship model.

Images of the Moto E4 Plus were discovered today, and one picture shows that the back cover is removable. This would allow users …

Hi-Fi version of the LG G6 with Quad DAC and Dual SIM capabilities surfaces in Singapore

Just the other day, we told you that the LG G6 variant sporting Quad DAC would soon be available in regions outside of Korea. One country that is greeting the device with open arms starting today is Australia. Another country that will be offering this version of LG’s new flagship is Singapore. A couple of images we received today from a PhoneArena reader show the LG G6 with labeling on the back promoting the Quad 32-bit DAC. The other picture shows the Quick Settings screen on the handset, which contains an on/off switch for the Quad DAC feature.

Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7R, sporting 3200mAh battery, surfaces in Asia

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is back. This time, the notorious handset has a special identifier in its name with the “R” in Galaxy Note 7R standing for refurbished. Earlier this year, there was talk about Samsung bringing back the twice-recalled phablet as a refurbished model, but that rumor was originally denied, and then confirmed. Issues with the batteries in the Galaxy Note 7 caused several units to explode last year, resulting in the device getting pulled off store shelves.

A subsequent internal investigation run by Samsung confirmed that the Note 7 was done in by two different …

New Samsung Galaxy S8 print teaser surfaces

This morning, Samsung revealed a new teaser for the Samsung Galaxy S8 in the form of a poster. In Korean, the poster reads “Completion and a New Start,” perhaps making a statement about last year’s issues with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The image on the teaser shows a person standing next to a smartphone shaped door. Outer Space beckons through the portal, with various planets and meteors making it through the door.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ should be unveiled on March 29th in New York City (which is March 30th in Korea thanks to the time difference). Pre-orders should …

Huawei P10 press render surfaces giving us another look at the device

The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are both expected to be unveiled on February 26th at Barcelona. The only difference between the two versions is said to be the use of a dual-curved edge screen on the Plus, while the P10 is reportedly going to carry a flat display. If a render of the P10 tweeted out this afternoon by a busy Evan Blass is legit, this very well might be the case. The Huawei P10 appears to feature a flat screen with narrow bezels. On back, the two cameras and flash take up a surprisingly small amount of space.

The Huawei P10  will feature a 5.5-inch display with a 1440 x 2560 …
