Cricket Wireless chirps now to promote new offers that start this Sunday, November 5th

Pre-paid carrier Cricket Wireless, owned by AT&T, announced today some upcoming promotions that start this Sunday, November 5th. Starting on that date, Cricket’s $30 a month plan will come with 2GB of high speed data, twice the current amount. The $40/month plan will come with 25% more high speed data (5GB up from 4GB). In addition, Cricket Wireless is bringing back its Unlimited 2 plan.

Tampa's hurricane luck may finally run out Sunday, in a disastrous way

Tampa, Florida, has avoided a direct hit by a major hurricane since 1921. That luck appears likely to end on Sunday, and it may do so in disastrous fashion. 

Tampa-St. Petersburg is a rapidly-growing, low-lying metropolitan area of nearly 3 million, with a coastline that is highly vulnerable to storm surge flooding from a tropical storm or hurricane. If the forecast track of Hurricane Irma verifies, and the storm’s center passes just to the west of the city, then onshore winds will pile up water into Tampa Bay. 

This could lead to a reasonable worst case scenario of having 6 feet or more of surge inundation in homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure such as parts of MacDill Air Force Base, where U.S. military operations in the Middle East are overseen, according to maps from the National Hurricane Center.  Read more…

T-Mobile will be launching its Premium Device Protection Plus this Sunday May 7th. As you probably could tell from the “Plus” tacked on to the name, this service has all of the same features as the regular plan with some extras thrown in. Google Home to star in $5 million Super Bowl Ad this Sunday

Virtual assistant Google Home will be a big celebrity by the time next Monday rolls around. The day before, which is this coming Sunday, the device will star in a $5 million ad during the Super Bowl. The game kicks off at 6:30pm Eastern time as the Atlanta Falcons take on the New England Patriots.
