'Black Panther' star Chadwick Boseman inspires students to challenge discrimination

Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman returned to Howard University to inspire graduates to use their education to make the world a better place.

Boseman, who graduated from the historically black university with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2000, lauded students for their on-campus activism in his commencement speech. The actor revealed he had also protested against the university when he studied at Howard.

“You love the university enough to struggle with it,” he told the crowd. “Now you have to continue to do that … everything that you fought for was not for yourself. It was for those who come after.” Read more…

All you need to celebrate Star Wars Day in the UK

“May the 4th be with you”.

It’s May 4th and that can only mean one thing….Star Wars Day.

The first known use of “May the 4th” goes back to 1979, when Margaret Tatcher’s team ordered a half-page newspaper advertisement to celebrate her becoming the first woman prime minister in the UK. The message read “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations”.

Star Wars fans were quick to spot the resemblance to the popular quote “may the force be with you”. And the rest is history.

Despite the fact the idea did not originate with Lucasfilm, it has fully embraced the fan-made holiday.

There are so many unique products, and exclusive offers on both officially licensed and unofficial Star Wars merchandise.  We’ve hand-picked some of the best for the day that’s in it.  Read more…

No matter how good your Good Friday was, it probably paled in comparison to Stranger Things’ star Millie Bobby Brown’s own — when she finally met Kim Kardashian

Harrison Ford was quietly advising on 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'

It’s still kinda weird imagining Han Solo without Harrison Ford at the helm.

Yet that’s what’s happening in the forthcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, with Alden Ehrenreich stepping into big shoes as the iconic rogue smuggler.

But according to an Entertainment Weekly report, Ford has been quietly involved with the film — giving advice to Ehrenreich about how to approach the character.

“Tell them I told you everything you needed to know, and that you can’t tell anyone,” Fold reportedly said.

While Ford kept his distance, he met Ehrenreich over lunch during production of the film, giving a few insights into playing Solo. Oh, if we could only know what these tips were. Read more…

Thanks to a Jedi mind trick, the OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition returns in India

To sort of quote a line from Star Wars, “Sales must be strong with this OnePlus model.”  The phone in question is the OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition in Sandstone white, which sold out quickly after being launched last month in India for 38,999 rupees ($615 USD). Indian consumers paid an extra 1,000 rupees ($15 USD) for the limited edition handset, which was equipped with 128GB of native storage.

Those who missed out on purchasing the phone when it was first available, collectively used a Jedi mind trick to get OnePlus to return to the Indian marketplace with the 5T Star Wars edition. …

'Stranger Things' star David Harbour blesses teen's senior portraits with his presence

Burn your senior portraits. They’ll never live up to these.

Twitter user @postydemaris put her fellow classmates (and, frankly, all of us) to shame when she secured Stranger Things star David Harbour for a guest role in her high school senior portraits.

This is a story two months in the making.

Back in October, @postydamaris reached out to Harbour (who stars as Jim Hopper in the beloved Netflix series) via Twitter to ask his price for an appearance in her photoshoot. Within 20 minutes, he responded: “25k. And I get to wear the school sweatshirt and hold a trombone.” Read more…
