Only Australian lamb is fit for this very holy, good ol' spring barbecue

TwitterFacebook

If you threw a dinner party for Jesus, Ganesha, Moses, Zeus, Buddha and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, what would you serve?

Lamb, obviously.

Australian Lamb wants you to go straight for the sheep, with their new spring ad bringing the world’s religious figures together for a casual barbecue — serving lamb, of course.

No stranger to a viral ad campaign, Australian Lamb clocked up 1.3 million views for their Australia Day ad in 2017, and made diversity their central message for last year’s spring campaign. Read more…

Gritty 1943 photos record Maine woodsmen on a dangerous spring lumber drive

TwitterFacebook

A woodsman wearing spiked shoes opens up an empty boom at the upper end of Mooselookmeguntic Lake so it can be filled with more logs from the Kennebago River.

In May 1943, Office of War Information photographer John Collier traveled to the timber holdings of the Brown Company in western Maine near the New Hampshire border.

There, he camped out with woodsmen who were tasked with guiding thousands of heavy, slippery logs on the spring pulpwood drive down the Kennebago River and Mooselookmeguntic Lake toward distant pulp and paper mills.

In addition to making portraits of the workers at rest, he captured the men in action as they deftly used pikes to maneuver the pulpwood, even riding the logs themselves to usher them through treacherous waters toward their destination. Read more…

Prison Architect confirmed to arrive on Android and iOS tablets this spring

Paradox, the Swedish publisher and developer of games, announced during ParadoxCon 2017 convention that the mobile version of Prison Architect would be launched on tablets this spring.

We’ve already reported on the BAFTA 2016 winner game last month when Paradox soft-launched Prison Architect in the Netherlands. Since then, it looks like developer Introversion Software has been squashing bugs left and right, so they have decided to add a few more countries to the list of locations where Prison Architect can be downloaded.

So, if you live in Australia or Sweden, …

Best tablets (Spring 2017)

Tablets are certainly undergoing some huge transformations: the darling form factor of the early 2010s, in recent years it has become obvious that people do not buy as many tablets as manufacturers thought and the once that they purchase, they certainly do not upgrade every two years or so. Much like traditional laptops, tablets have a longer life and the upgrade cycle is much longer.
This has taught manufacturers some important lessons: it has taught them what people really need in a tablet. This has brought a big change to the tablet …

Best smartwatches (Spring 2017)

2016 is the year when we were supposed to have jetpacks and flying cars. Instead, we got smartwatches, the supposed new category, a beginning of a new niche that has started to form.

Instead of jetpacks and flying cars, in 2017, we get smartwatches and VRSome devices, however, do stand out in the crowds. The elephant in the room is, of course, the Apple Watch. The smartwatch has seen a lukewarm reception and it is only compatible with the iPhone, but with a rich app ecosystem, an appealing design and accurate fitness monitoring and pulse meter it is one of the best out there. …

Spring ahead; Daylight Saving Time starts Sunday morning in the U.S.

The annual ritual in the U.S. known as Daylight Saving Time begins at 2am tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Exactly five years ago today, iOS processed the change in time incorrectly. Instead of moving the clock ahead one hour, the clock on the iPhone was pushed back an hour by mistake. Which meant that anyone relying on their iPhone to arrive somewhere on time, showed up two hours late.

The year before, those who set recurring alarms on their iPhone in Australia failed to rise and shine as the switch to Daylight Saving Time deactivated all the alarms. In 2012, Siri screwed things up by giving …
