After selling 220,000 Spectacles at $129.99 a pair, Snap is back with a slightly more costly and updated version of the video recording glasses. Major changes include the ability to snap photos and record video in HD. The glasses are now water resistant and come in onyx, ruby, and sapphire. At $149.99, the new Spectacles are priced $20 higher than the first-gen model, and will offer faster uploads of pictures and videos to a smartphone. Once loaded on a handset, the images can be shared on Snap’s Snapchat messaging app.

Spectacles sequel could arrive as early as this week: report

Snap’s next generation Spectacles could be arriving this week. Just over a month ago it was reported that Snap Inc. was planning two new pairs of Spectacles despite lackluster sales of the original. In spite of the report claiming an autumn launch was on the cards for the second-generation wearable, though, a new report by Wired suggests Snap could reveal the new product within a matter of days.

Redesigned Snapchat to launch on Android December 4th?; Snap to sell Spectacles at store in London

Yesterday, we told you that Snapchat parent Snap had reported a lower than expected gain of 4.5 million new Active Daily Users during the third quarter. More importantly, founder and CEO Evan Spiegel said that the messaging app will be unveiling a new redesign for the Android version of Snapchat. Following the redesign, Snapchat will be easier to use. While Spiegel didn’t reveal a launch date for the new version of Snapchat, a source familiar with the matter said that employees were internally given the date of December 4th as to when to expect the new look to be available.

From an average guy’s point of view, Snap’s Spectacles might look like nothing more than plastic sunglasses with an embedded video camera. Spectacles return to Venice with a new pop-up store

On February 20th, Snap closed its New York City pop-up shop for the Spectacles sunglasses. A new store is opening in Venice, which should result in some Deja Vu. After all, the Spectacle vending machine first appeared in Venice last November. The new store is near Snap’s L.A. headquarters and is situated near the Boardwalk. The store will be open between 11am through sundown, and will feature several kiosks where the glasses can be purchased for $129.99 a pair.
