Amazon Echo speakers finally get an intercom feature

The Alexa-enabled Amazon Echo and Echo Dot are two of the hottest consumer products in the US, but they have been having troubles getting new applications, known as “skills.” Phone calls and intercom capabilities have been requested for as long as the two have been on the market, and are considered to be killer features for the platform, but it is only now that Amazon has gotten around to introduce the intercom feature.
Dubbed Alexa Announcements, the new Alexa skill lets users utilise Echo speakers across their homes as a relay system of sorts. That is, you can …

Google Home smart speakers can now be paired with other third-party Bluetooth speakers

The smart-speakers war is well on its way and now it all depends on how manufacturers one-up each other. And while some, like Apple, don’t want to include even a simple third-party music app support for their HomePod, others, like Google, do the exact opposite. Today, Google announced its three smart speakers – Home, Home Mini, and Home Max – can now be paired with third-party Bluetooth speakers.

This change will definitely tackle one of the issues the Google Home smart speakers have – they are not loud enough and pairing them with a loud Bluetooth speaker (like …

Samsung Galaxy S9 to run for a day and a half on a single charge, will sport front stereo speakers?

A Reddit user, who claimed to have had hands-on time with a  pre-production version of the Samsung Galaxy S9, posted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) thread on the social forum site the other day. He fielded questions related to the unit he played around with, noting that the model was “very close to production.” And while it might not mean anything, the fact that the thread was deleted could indicate that his story is legitimate and hit too close to home.

According to the lucky gentleman who allegedly was given 20 minutes to play around with the phone, the design looks very similar to last …

Facebook said to be prepping a pair of smart speakers

Smart speakers are currently the hottest new device in the world of consumer tech. The category was created by Amazon, which rolled out the Amazon Echo back in 2015. Consisting of a speaker and a virtual assistant, the smart speaker can be used to control smart appliances in a house, stream music, order a pizza, make calls, send messages, get sports scores, listen to the news/weather and more.

Once the Amazon Echo and its Alexa virtual assistant caught on with the public, other tech firms started to offer their own versions of the device. Google released the Home series featuring …
