Samsung has announced today that it has started churning out chipsets made using the company’s second generation 10nm process. Samsung hasn’t  made any specific announcement, but there is a good chance that this second generation process will be employed in the production of the Snapdragon 845 chipset and the next version of the Exynos SoC. Huawei just made its proprietary Kirin 970 SoC official. The company’s CEO Richard Yu took the stage at IFA in Berlin to announce that Huawei’s latest chipset will bet heavily on deep learning and AI to deliver a vastly improved user experience in upcoming mobile devices. The first smartphones to feature the new Kirin 970 processor will be the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro.

Report: Huawei's Kirin 970 SoC entered mass production this month

Huawei, one of the world’s largest handset makers, will be among the last to unveil its flagship smartphone for the second half of the year. While Samsung, HMD, Google and even Apple are expected to announce new products in the next couple of months, Huawei will introduce the Mate 10 in October.

With the Snapdragon 450 chipset recently the subject of a price cut to $10.50 per chip, the competition now must follow suit or find themselves behind the eight-ball when it comes to pricing.
