T-Mobile rep gets bamboozled into a SIM swap… all to steal a cool Instagram handle

Oh, the times we are living in. The good old days of number transfer scams are somewhat exhausted, it seems, as carriers are more “woke” to the problem now, and have put safeguards against unauthorized number porting. When you are trying to steal that coveted three-letter OG Instagram account, however, all bets are off.

That’s exactly what happened to one Paul Rosenzweig, a fairly well-versed in account security software engineer, who did all the port-out scam precautions that T-Mobile now requires, like extra port validation pins or passwords. Still, he got bamboozled out of a sought-after …

Pick up the unlocked Exynos powered Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ with dual SIM support from eBay

If you would prefer that the Exynos 9810 chipset powers your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+, you can now purchase the international factory unlocked version of either phone from a seller on eBay. Besides relying on Sammy’s own SoC to drive the new models, the units offer support for dual SIM cards. The Galaxy S9 is offered in black and purple and the Galaxy S9+ can be purchased in black only. All the other color options have been sold out.

Both handsets support GSM carriers only, which means that Verizon and Sprint subscribers should just pass this by. The price of the Galaxy S9 (SM-G9600) …

Samsung apologizes for putting Verizon SIM cards in Sprint's Galaxy S9 packages

If you are a Sprint customer, and have preordered your Galaxy S9 and S9+ directly from Samsung, you might have been in for a funky surprise upon going to the porch, and taking the wraps off the shipment.

The Sprint Galaxy S9 packages seemingly contained… Verizon SIM cards, as you can see above. Samsung has apologized for the mismatch, and is reportedly now shipping the correct SIMs to their Sprint customer orders as we speak.
Adding insult to injury, the unlocked Galaxy S9 costs just $719.99 over at the Samsung USA store, while Sprint and …

The end of SIM cards? ARM outs iSIM, integrated directly into the chipset

ARM, the architect of all chips mobile and frugal, is onto the case of the disappearing SIM card. You see, the current nano SIMs are too big for it, and it knows that phone and Internet-of-Things manufacturers could use this space for things like, ahem, larger battery packs, to name one.
That is why ARM, which doesn’t own a chip foundry, but creates the underlying architecture behind all those processor cores that end up in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, Apple’s A-line, or Samsung’s Exynos chipsets, now comes with an iSIM solution. What would an iSIM (integrated SIM) be, you …

Apple's iPhone 9 and Xs to only come with Intel modems, dual SIM support in the cards

Amidst reiterating that the rumored 6.1″ LCD iPhone 9 will account for 50% of Apple’s 2018 iPhone crop sales, famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo added a few more notable details about this year’s portfolio in three memos to clients of its research shop KGI Securities.

First off, Apple is apparently done with Qualcomm for good, and all three upcoming new iPhones this year will be equipped with Intel modems. Thus, unless Qualcomm wiggles back in the supply chain due to some patent suit agreement, there won’t be the differences in download speeds and signal strength that we are witnessing …

Samsung Germany's Galaxy S9 support page hints that Dual SIM feature is coming to Europe

Some models of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge came with Dual SIM capabilities. This was offered in the form of a hybrid SIM tray (pictured above) that allowed users to employ the second SIM card holder for a microSD card instead. In 2016, the Dual SIM variation using the hybrid SIM tray was available in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Last year, the hybrid SIM tray was again offered in select markets on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+.

What about this year? Thanks to Samsung Germany’s early posting of its support page for the Samsung Galaxy S9, we can tell …

Dual SIM Galaxy S9 and S9+ models listed, may sport dual VoLTE as well

Not that it comes as a huge surprise, but the Galaxy S9 may land with a dual SIM version for those who need hooking up to more than one carrier or plan. Samsung has filed for regulatory approval of a dual SIM handset denoted as SM-G9608, with the “8” in the end standing for a Taiwan model.

There are two more dual SIM versions listed there, too – an SM-G9600 for China, and the eventual Galaxy S9+, with an entry number SM-G9650. Given that the Galaxy S8 is SM-G950, and the S8+ is marked as SM-G955, there is every chance that these dual SIM devices listed in the databases …

New Android Messages update adds Duo integration, new message indicators, RCS for dual SIM phones, and more

Google’s Android Messages has received a new update. The patch log of the new version 2.7 doesn’t contain details about any changes, but a teardown of the APK file has revealed a few notable additions.

One of the important features coming with the latest update is integration with Google Duo. If you have contacts that have Duo installed, their respective title bars should now include a video camera icon.
Android Messages will also indicate how many new messages you’ve received when you re-open a conversation. Last …

Deal: Unlocked dual SIM Samsung Galaxy S8+ drops down to $585 on eBay

The Galaxy S8+ will not remain Samsung’s latest flagship for too long now since the South Korean company is already working on the new Galaxy S9, which is expected to go official in February.

Until then, there will be plenty of opportunities to score a good deal on the Galaxy S8+, and even after Samsung introduces the Galaxy S9 next year.

One of the more recent Galaxy S8+ deals is now up and running on eBay. It concerns the unlocked, dual-SIM version of the flagship, which is now available for purchase for $634 outright. However, if you apply the code PSHOPEARLY at …
