US carrier confirms Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Note 5 will get Android Oreo

Samsung sold lots of Galaxy S6 and Note 5 flagships, as well as many of the former’s variations like the S6 edge and S6 edge+. All those people who still use these phones are still waiting for the handset maker to announce whether or not it will release Android Oreo updates for any of them.

Until today, we only had rumors pointing to possible Oreo updates for the Galaxy S6 and its variations, but no these reports haven’t been confirmed by Samsung. While we still don’t know what’s happening in Samsung’s labs, there’s a high chance that these Galaxy and Note models will eventually receive …

Samsung Galaxy S6 might get Android Oreo by February, but don't get your hopes up

Samsung is hard at work trying to release the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for some of its flagship smartphones. The South Korean company is currently testing Oreo for Galaxy S8 and S8+ and is likely to start pushing it out very soon.

However, another ex-flagship might get the update around the same time. Samsung Galaxy S6’s last major Android OS update could be Oreo, according to the company’s technical support. Sadly, these statements that some Samsung reps issue while offering technical support are hard to confirm 100% since decisions related to important …

Samsung Galaxy Note 8, S6 edge receive new security patch, here's what's new

A new software upgrade is rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and S6 edge. The update brings the Android security patch for the month of October.

For security reasons, Samsung doesn’t specify which vulnerabilities were exactly addressed. However, the changelog mentions that a total of 221 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) related to Samsung Experience (formerly known as TouchWiz) and the Android system have been resolved.
At the moment, the Note 8 update seems to be available only to users in China and Hong Kong. …

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge start receiving Android Nougat updates

If you own a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge, an official Android 7 Nougat update for your phone is just around the corner. T-Mobile Product Manager Des Smith today confirmed that the update should be available to both handsets “this week.”

For now, the Nougat update for the S6 and S6 edge doesn’t show up over at T-Mobile’s support website. However, one of our readers (thanks, Arthur!) informed us that he received the update on his T-Mo Galaxy S6 earlier today.

Of course, since the week has just begun, it will probably take a while before all …

T-Mobile outs call failure fix for Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5

Two new small updates are now being rolled out by T-Mobile for Samsung smartphones. Each of these updates addresses an issue with Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 where users experience call failure.

The roll-out of both updates should be in full swing now, as T-Mobile announced their availability on May 21. The changelog is the same for both smartphones: “Intermittent call failure fix, Android 7.0 Nougat for users still on DQC2.”

However, the software build number is different, so if you own the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5, then you should be looking …

T-Mobile starts rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is finally getting the promised Android 7.0 Nougat update after a three weeks delay at T-Mobile. The Uncarrier announced in late April that its engineers have already approved the Galaxy S6 edge+ Nougat build and that the update should go live in early May.

Well, if you own the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 edge+, then you already know that for whatever reasons that didn’t happen. The good news is T-Mobile has just updated the phone’s support page to confirm the Android 7.0 Nougat update has been approved to launch and is now available for download.

Unfortunately, …

Shortly after updating the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ to Android 7.0 Nougat, AT&T announced that three other Samsung smartphones are eligible for the highly-anticipated update.

If you happen to own the AT&T Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge or Galaxy S6 active, then you should check for Android 7.0 Nougat, as the carrier confirmed the rollout has already begun.

Keep in mind though that the update weighs in at around 1.3GB for each of the three smartphones, so make sure you have enough free storage before attempting to download and install Android …

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ will be updated to Android Nougat next week

T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is about to get an official update to Android 7 Nougat – not long after the smartphone received a similar update on Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.

T-Mobile Project Manager Des Smith confirmed on Twitter that Android Nougat should be rolled out to the Galaxy S6 edge+ starting “early next week.” Just like it happened in the case of the S6 edge+ from other carriers, the update will likely bring Android 7.0, not 7.1 to the handset. Even so, this is a major (and sizeable) update that T-Mobile S6 edge+ owners have been impatiently waiting …

Verizon starts seeding Android 7.0 Nougat for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

Verizon is the next carrier in the United States to provide the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge owners. Although the Big Red has yet to make it official, some users have already captured the update on their phones.

Until Verizon won’t release the proper documentation for this update, we can’t confirm what security patch the update contains. The good news is the Android 7.0 Nougat update does include “security updates,” it’s just we don’t know yet if it’s the March or April patch.

According to the official changelog, the update also contains …

AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ are now being updated to Android Nougat

Not long after Sprint updated its Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to Android Nougat, AT&T this week started pushing a Nougat update to its own version of the Note 5 (N920A).

According to AT&T’s official Galaxy Note 5 support page – see the source link below – the new update brings Android 7.0 Nougat (not 7.1) to the handset, and includes the March security patch. Users are also getting two pre-loaded apps (Samsung Cloud and Samsung Pass), plus improvements related to network performance. Moreover, the update is removing some apps, including AT&T Address Book, AT&T Live, and MobiTV.
