The Samsung Gear S4 rumor mill is now steadily blowing, with recent reports claiming that the Gear S4, code-named Galileo, is being developed in the United States and will come in two sizes. Further adding fuel to the fire is Samsung’s recent trademarking of the ‘Galaxy Watch’ and ‘Galaxy Fit’ names, which could suggest a big branding change for future Samsung smartwatches and fitness trackers.

Samsung, KDDI run multi-device 5G test at a Japanese ballpark using prototype tablets

Samsung and KDDI together ran a successful multi-device test of next-gen 5G connectivity, using prototype tablets supporting the faster network. The test was conducted at Okinawa Cellular Stadium, a ballpark with capacity for 30,000 fans, and the results were announced today. This was the first trial in Japan to test 5G connectivity using 5G tablets. A 4K live video feed was downloaded and streamed simultaneously on these 5G slates using the millimeter wave spectrum.

Huawei is reportedly looking to work out a deal with Sirin Labs to license its SIRIN OS for use in a new phone that would focus on cryptocurrencies. According to two sources cited by Bloomberg, the phone will be able to run Blockchain-based applications. Blockchain is a digital ledger used to record cryptocurrency transactions chronologically. The Blockchain is not stored in one specific location, making it nearly impossible for hackers to corrupt. It was first created for Bitcoin, the most well known cryptocurrency at the moment.

Ex-Apple, Samsung executive hired to run Disney's upcoming streaming video app

Back last August, we told you that Disney is planning to compete with Netflix by launching an app that will offer subscribers streaming videos consisting of TV shows and movies. The House of Mouse has a large library of live action and animated content that it can share with users of the app. To head up the new service, Disney apparently wanted someone who has worked with mobile devices and on streaming apps. According to Variety, Disney’s BAMTech Media division will announce the hiring of Kevin Swint to first build, and then run the unit.

Nintendo announces Super Mario Run has 200 million downloads, but it's not too profitable

Super Mario Run is Nintendo’s first foray into the mobile gaming industry. Even though the game proved to be pretty popular among Android and iOS users, it didn’t reach the level of profitability Nintendo expected.

During Nintendo’s latest earnings report, the Japanese company announced Super Mario Run now has more than 200 million downloads on both Android and iOS platforms. However, Nintendo claims that despite this impressive numbers, the game “had not yet reached an acceptable profit point.”
