Sony rumored to finally be ditching its OmniBalance design at MWC 2018

Pretty much any mention of the words “Sony Xperia” online will inevitably get you the same reaction: people unhappy with the manufacturer’s decision to stick with its years-old design principles (even though it’s far from the only company doing it).

But this might soon change, if a new rumor is to be believed: Sony is said to be retiring its OmniBalance for good starting next year. Rejoice!
As you may know, Sony likes releasing its major smartphones in two batches: one early in the year at the Mobile World Congress, and one in …

Apple rumored to unofficially repair or replace Hurricane damaged iPhone and iPad units

So let’s say that thanks to Hurricane Harvey your Apple iPhone or Apple iPad sustained serious water damage that basically destroyed one or both devices. Despite the IP67 certification rating on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple has made it clear that water damage is not covered by its warranty. So under normal circumstances, the flooding in Texas would normally lead to water logged iPhone units that would not be replaced by Apple, even if they are supposed to withstand a submersion to 3.3-feet for as long as 30-minutes.

But that doesn’t mean that Apple isn’t going out of its way to …

Apple iPhone tenth anniversary model is now rumored to be the iPhone X

Yesterday, we passed along a rumor that the actual name for the tenth anniversary iPhone model would be the Apple iPhone Edition. Even with the story on Friday, some of us were hoping that the tenth anniversary iPhone model would be called the Apple iPhone X. This would have a great double meaning. The “X” in iPhone X would give the model a designation indicating a premium device, just like Motorola did with the Droid X back in 2010. And iPhone X would also mean the tenth anniversary of the iPhone as “X” stands for the number 10 in Roman numerals.

As it turns out, the premium version of …

Samsung inadvertently confirms the long rumored Gear Fit 2 Pro

Samsung has big plans when it comes to wearables, as the South Korean company has not one, but two devices in the pipeline that we know of. The recently revealed Samsung Gear Sport hybrid smartwatch has already been certified by FCC, while the upcoming Gear Fit 2 Pro has been listed on the company’s official website.

A new Gear Fit band was rumored to make its debut at the Tizen Developer event back in the spring, but Samsung had other plans for the fitness tracker. It appears that the unannounced Gear Fit 2 Pro will be introduced very soon since it’s been listed …

So-called Emperor Edition of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 rumored to feature 256GB of native storage

The version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 that most of us are familiar with carries 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. There is a Midnight Black version of the handset that features an enhanced 6GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. Samsung initially made 150,000 units of this model for the South Korean market, all of which were quickly sold out. Lenovo may have shown off its latest Moto flagship to the world just this week, but that doesn’t mean it’s done putting out devices just yet —in fact, we’ve heard of at least three upcoming Moto devices. One of those is the Moto X4, the next entry in the X series which once designated the company’s flagships, but has now been delegated to the upper mid-range instead.

We’ve had a couple of disappointing false alarms regarding the X4’s release, and while we’ve yet to see a concrete launch date, reliable leakster Roland Quandt has now given us some …

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the next big thing to be unveiled in the smartphone industry, but it’s the Google Pixel 2 that will mark the debut of the most powerful chipset on the market, Qualcomm Snapdragon 836.

Fudzilla reports sources in the industry have confirmed to them that Google’s Pixel 2 flagship will be the first to pack the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor, unlike Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that’s expected to include a previous version of the chipset (and Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 chip).

The new Snapdragon 836 CPU will be 10% faster than the predecessor, …

Meizu Pro 7 Plus gets pictured next to the regular Meizu Pro 7, rumored prices revealed

It looks like the dual-screened Meizu Pro 7 will have some jumbo-sized company when it launches. Among the new images leaking almost every day is one depicting a purported Meizu Pro 7 Plus next to the normal-sized handset. As expected, the Pro 7 Plus also has that much-talked-about secondary screen on its back panel. And, as you can clearly see, it’s got full support for playing Pac Man as well. What glorious times we live in!

In case you are wondering, the black handset on the left is, evidently, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus – it appears larger than the phone in silver (or gold) next to it, which …
