Google continues to drive revenue growth at Alphabet in Q1 2018

Alphabet’s quarterly revenue and profits are up significantly versus last year. The parent company behind Google has a pretty solid track record when it comes to posting strong growth in each quarter, and Q1 2018 appears to have been no different, with the search engine company once again driving increases.

For the three-month period ending March 31st, Alphabet posted huge revenues of $31.1 billion, representing a substantial increase of 26% when compared to Q1 of 2017. In addition, operating income reached $7 billion. This is up from the $6.5 billion reported last year, equating to an …

Apple chip supplier TSMC cuts 2018 revenue forecast citing weak high-end phone sales

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd, most likely better known to you as TSMC, just announced a good news-bad news scenario. The company, which manufacturers chips for companies like Apple, NVIDIA and Qualcomm, reported a 2.5% increase in first quarter profit to the equivalent of $3.1 billion, which met analysts’ expectations. That happens to be the good news.

The bad news is that revenue for all of 2018 is likely to grow at the low end of the company’s previously disclosed 10% to 15% range. The reason, as explained by TSMC Co-Chief Executive C.C. Wei, is that the rebound in China’s …

Samsung dethrones Intel to become the world's largest chip maker by revenue

Samsung just announced record $50 billion profit for last year, and a record Q4 with $14.1 billion earned largely from selling marked-up components, rather than Galaxies. The parts in question include memory modules, displays and processors, but it’s the chip business that made it rain for Samsung in 2017. Buried in the annual report is the fact that the department made $69 billion of revenue for Samsung last year, while the former king Intel (also knows as Chipzilla), made do with $63 billion.
This is a huge shift in the silicon business, no matter how you slice …

It is estimated that Samsung Display produced around …

Best Buy points at the iPhone X for a whopping $100 million revenue loss

Apple’s later-than-usual iPhone X launch may have cost Best Buy $100 million in lost revenue, suggested the electronics retailer in all but a name. During its quarterly results press release statement for investors, Best Buy mentioned that it would have beat the Wall Street consensus estimate of $9.36 billion, if it wasn’t that “a major phone launch did not happen until November.”

Instead, Best Buy hauled in $9.32 billion, also marred by hurricane season, and other natural disasters which shaved a few cents per share off its results. Apple announced the iPhone …

Apple expects next quarter to be its best quarter ever with over $84 billion in revenue

Apple might have beaten expectations for iPhone sales this quarter with revenue of $52.6 billion, but what investors were really looking forward to is what the company expects for its biggest quarter of the year, the upcoming Holiday quarter.
And Apple has some big expectations.
Last year, the company beat its own records and scored $78.4 billion in revenue, the highest any company in history has ever posted. This year, it expects to go much higher: Apple’s projection for the Holiday quarter put revenue between $84 …
