Apple replaces free App of the Week with a new section, "This Weekend Only"

You might remember when every weekend we would tell you the current “Free App of the Week.” Since the launch of iOS 11, the gang in Cupertino did away with the weekly freebie. To replace it, a new section called This Weekend Only debuts. Every week, Apple will reveal an app that offers a special deal or discount on anything “from apparel to food delivery, hotel reservations to movie tickets.”

To get to This Weekend Only, open the App Store on your iOS flavored device and head to “Today.” There, you will look for “Introducing: This Weekend Only.”

Google reverses servicing policy, no longer replaces defective, out of warranty Nexus 6P units


Bad news for owners of Nexus 6P defective units hoping to get their phones replaced for free. Google had quietly replaced most of Nexus 6P devices affected by hardware issues with Pixel XL units, but only in North America.

Customers in Europe and Australia haven’t been treated the same way, or at least only a small number of Nexus 6P owners have had their phones replaced with Pixel XL devices.

Unfortunately, it looks like Google will no longer replace the Nexus 6P phones and now recommends customers to contact the manufacturer of the device, namely Huawei. It doesn’t matter that …

Deutsche Bank replaces company-issued BlackBerry handsets with the Apple iPhone

Deutsche Bank has long had a BYOD policy for employees that allowed them to swap out company-issued BlackBerry handsets and replace them with their own personal iPhone model. Now, the 15th largest bank in the world (as ranked by assets) is officially phasing out its use of BlackBerry smartphones and is replacing them with Apple’s iconic smartphone. Deutsche Bank had continued to officially support BlackBerry longer than most of its rivals and that resulted in Deutsche Bank clients smartphone shaming the institution.
