Apparently, last year the game broke through its all-time annual download record with more than 400 million mostly organic downloads on both Android and iOS platforms. But …

Even so, there’s a good reason to be at least cautiously optimistic about Qualcomm’s latest milestone: it’s a very good sign for the future of 5G. Read more…

The Global Tablet PC Shipments Will Reach 253 Million Units by 2016

According to the latest research report of Juniper Research, a market research firm, by 2016, the global tablet PC shipments will reach 253 million units, which is five times of estimated 2011 shipments, 55.2 million units. With the launch of the second generation of Apple iPad tablet PC earlier this year, HTC, LG, Motorola, RIM and other smartphones manufacturers have also released their first generation tablet PCs. As other opportunities in the PC market shrinking, other vendors of PC market have joined the tablet PC market as well, including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Toshiba.

By 2016, nearly half of the tablet PCs will have cellular connectivity. Currently, tablet PC with the extra cellular connection configuration is far below the tablet PCs with only WiFi network connection configuration. However, this situation will undergo significant transformation. Network access technology will play an important role. In the developed countries, 4G networks will provide richer services through a cellular connection. Since the lack of fixed-line infrastructure in the emerging market, cellular connectivity will become essential tablet PC functionality.

The report further predicts that as companies continue to recognize the tablet’s potential in the content creation, tablet PC sales will have nearly one-fifth sales to enterprises by 2016.
