Xiaomi could be about to go public with $10 Billion IPO

Xiaomi’s initial public offering could be just around the corner. It was reported earlier this month that Xiaomi could file an IPO in Hong Kong in May based on a valuation of $70 billion. And now, according to new information, it appears Xiaomi will be seeking to raise as much as $10 billion once it goes public.

If this is true, it would make Xiaomi’s IPO the largest of 2018 so far, with the company’s listing expected to take place on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Unlike streaming giant Spotify, though, Xiaomi is set to take a much more traditional approach to going public, with a …

A few days ago, Apple rolled out iOS 11.3, which includes the new battery health tool allowing users to see how strong or weak their iPhone battery is. The new iOS build also allows iPhone owners to prevent Apple from throttling the speed of the CPU on their phones. The company was doing this to prevent units with weak batteries from shutting down when faced with a complex task. Yesterday, Apple released the first Developer beta for iOS 11.4, and followed that up today with the release of the first public beta for iOS 11.4.

Cellebrite executive says unlocking the iPhone is for the public good

Just the other day, we told you that Israeli tech company Cellebrite said that it can now unlock all Apple iPhone models running up to iOS 11.2.6, which happens to be the last public release of the OS. The company’s chief marketing officer, Jeremy Nazarian, recently told Forbes that there are good reasons to have this capability. The executive read some of these off as though he was reciting the list of plagues during a Passover sedar. He listed “homicide, crimes against children, drug gangs, major public safety threats in any community” as some of the benefits that the public reaps from the ability …

US Army bases are clearly marked in remote outposts like Afghanistan’s Helmand province It seems that nobody, not even the US military, is prepared for the changes in thinking that connectivity and technologies preclude. Case in point – the popular Strava fitness tracking app, which is headquartered in San Francisco, and has over a million active users who log their running, biking, skiing, and plenty of other activities, has US army soldiers among them.

When deployed overseas, they keep tracking their jogging routines which appear on Strava’s worldwide heat map. So far so good, …

Results: Galaxy S8 trumps Galaxy A8 in the public eye

Samsung just launched the Galaxy A8 (2018) less than a month ago and it looks like a pretty solid midranger through and through… well until you see its price that is. With a tag of about €500 in Europe, where it’s currently available, it’s just €40 shy of the price of the Galaxy S8. Sure, the latter is Samsung’s flagship for last year and is about to be replaced, but is it really that old that the Galaxy A8 (2018) surpasses it?

Sure, the midranger has the looks, but it does lack a certain oomph, especially when it comes to the camera. We were wondering — would people make the choice to …
