Samsung rolled out the first Android 8.0 Oreo update public beta for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in early November, and it’s now been two months since it’s been beta-testing the update. The company now says it will close access to the public beta program today, on January 5th (it’s your last chance to sign up), as the beta testing will officially end on January 15th.
This means one thing: Samsung is done testing and it is preparing to officially release the Android 8.0 Oreo update to the public soon, and as we’ve heard in previous reports this could even happen by the end …

Apple rolls out iOS 11.2 Public Beta 5, here's what's changed

Apple is rolling out the fifth beta version of the upcoming iOS 11.2 update. The patch was first seeded to developers, but shortly after, it was made available for public testing as well.
With a size of about 47MB, the update doesn’t seem to add much in terms of new features. However, it appears that performance has seen some improvements. According to iDownloadBlog, an iPhone X with the latest beta scores 4,157 points in single-core performance and 10,088 points in multi-core performance on benchmarking service Geekbench 4. …

The first public beta of Android was released 10 years ago, here is what it looked like

Did you know that it was 10 years ago when the first public beta of Android was released to the public?
It almost seems like an eternity and the original Android version that was released was way different than what we have today. It was way different than what ended up on the first Android phone also. The T-Mobile G1, or the HTC Dream as it was known internationally, featured a touch-screen based interface very much like that on Apple’s iPhone, but the version that you will see presented by Google’s Sergei Brin is actually optimized to run on a …

Apple's iOS 11 beta 9 now available for registered developers and public beta testers

Just three days after iOS 11 beta 8 was made available to registered developers and public beta testers, iOS 11 beta 9 was pushed out today. The urgency with which Apple pushed out the new build suggests that something important had gone awry in iOS 11 beta 8, which means that it probably makes sense for developers and public beta testers to install the new update when possible.

Registered developers can head over to Apple’s developer portal (developer.apple.com) and update their iPhone or iPad to the new build via an OTA update, or the update can be installed using IPSW. If you’re not a …

Test Android Oreo's new Autofill feature with LastPass public beta

Now that Google launched Android 8.0 Oreo, developers who want to bring their apps on the new mobile platform have begun testing them. One such app is LastPass, a popular password manager, auto form filler and random password generator for Android devices.

The fine folks behind LastPass have just announced a public beta for those who want to test some of the new features that Google included in Android 8.0 Oreo. Specifically, the new version of Android comes with Autofill, a feature that is frequently used by LastPass.

It appears that the new Android Oreo …

New and free stickers can now be found faster, and you can more easily manage the groups you belong to with options to “Leave” and “Delete.”

One change that was part of the beta in July, the ability given BBM for Android users to pick custom PIN numbers for free, did not make it to the final version …

Watch an adorable one-month-old rhino calf greet his adoring public

Kendi the black rhino was born on July 17 at the Cincinnati Zoo. Since then, he’s been venturing outside with his mom, Seyia, for short stints, using the time to get used to being outside and greet his adoring public.

Friends, he is very cute and small. He also lives at the same zoo as Fiona the Hippo, who is the de facto queen of America. So he’s got that going for him, which is nice. Read more…
