TSMC beats out Samsung, will be the exclusive producer of A12 chips for 2018 iPhone models?

Apple designs the chipsets used to power the iPhone, and then turns over the manufacturing to a company with the facilities to produce the component. In the last few years, Samsung and TSMC have been given the task (exclusively, or together) to produce these chips. TSMC has beaten out Samsung in the race to the 7nm process and according to industry sources, Apple has given the foundry an exclusive to produce the A12 SoC that will be used on the 2018 iPhone lineup. A producer reportedly wanted 'Crazy Rich Asians' to star a white woman

Today in bad but unsurprising revelations: Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan was reportedly pressured by a film producer to make the book’s Chinese-American protagonist, Rachel Chu, a white woman instead.

Kwan detailed the experience, which happened before the book was even published, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“They wanted to change the heroine into a white girl,” he explained. “I was like, ‘Well, you’ve missed the point completely.’ I said, ‘No, thank you.’”

And even Apple, which has stood by its LCD screens since the unveiling of the very first iPhone in 2007, is experimenting this year with one of its handsets. The tenth-anniversary Apple iPhone 8 will likely become the first iOS powered device to carry an OLED screen, leaving the Apple iPhone 7s and Apple iPhone 7s Plus to carry on this year with LCD panels.

Others bang out beats on their cracked screen iPhone and do it well enough to get a Grammy nomination, a spot on Kendrick Lamar’s new record, ‘DAMN.’

We’re talking about hip-hop producer Steve Lacey, who literally uses an iPhone to come up with triple-A material. He made complete songs and beats for Lamar and his own Grammy-nominated R&B band with an iPhone, the Garage Band app, …
