Microsoft released a new version of Skype called “the next generation” last month. The new app was launched on both Android and iOS platforms and brought a completely redesigned user interface, as well as new features and improvements.

You might recall that last month, on its eighth birthday, WhatsApp announced the introduction of video status updates. This did not go down smoothly for WhatsApp subscribers, many of whom felt that the Facebook owned messaging app was merely copying Instagram and Snapchat.
