Confirming a previous rumor, AT&T just announced a rebranding of its GoPhone service, which, from now on, will be known as AT&T Prepaid.

In celebration of the new name, AT&T is offering two months of free wireless service to new prepaid customers. AT&T GoPhone may soon be rebranded to AT&T Prepaid, as the carrier offers new plan rates for its prepaid services. Prepaid customers with Verizon will be happy to know the Big Red will allow them to reap the benefits of using the My Verizon app starting June 28. A new and improved version of the app will be available to all Verizon customers later this week, the carrier announced today.

Verizon adjusts its pre-paid plans by adding more data; video streaming limited to 480p

Verizon has announced some changes to its pre-paid offerings starting on June 6th. On that date, Verizon’s pre-paid service will consist of  five different tiers: 3 GB of high-speed for $40 a month, 7 GB of high-speed data for $50 a month and 10 GB of high-speed data for $60 a month. Verizon announced today that effective immediately, it will offer an unlimited data plan for its pre-paid customers. The price of the service is $80 a month and includes unlimited talk to Mexico and Canada, and unlimited text to over 200 international locations. The pre-paid unlimited plan streams video at up to 480p (DVD quality). Mobile hotspot and tethering usage is not included as part of the plan, and during times of heavy traffic your data could be prioritized behind other customers.

Sprint to position pre-paid service as an alternative for consumers who don't need unlimited data

Sprint has made things quite easy for consumers. $50 a month gets you a single line of unlimited talk, text and data. The plan also comes with 10GB per month of mobile hot spot data. Streaming video arrives at a resolution as high as 1080p, music is streamed at 1.5Mbps and games are streamed at 8Mbps. T-Mobile has announced two new Simply Prepaid plans. The first one, priced at $45 a month, features unlimited talk, text and data. But only 4GB of the data is of the high-speed 4G LTE variety. You can keep your current number and current device, or purchase a shiny new phone from T-Mobile. Spend $55 a month, and you can raise your high speed 4G LTE data cap to 6GB.
