First Galaxy S9 preview pops for the Snaprdragon 845 US version, confirms all the new features

Well, well, well, some are mining bitcoins and interfering with people’s phone calls, others are mining Reddit threads for information about the Galaxy S9, and scoring a whole AMA dedicated to Samsung’s flagship.

Coming from someone who claims they spent about 20 minutes toying around with the phone, the session is rife with first-look impressions about the S9, so we will summarize the guy’s impressions below, so you don’t have to read through the whole wide thread.
First off, the design is indeed very close to the S8, and the leaked renders apparently …

Samsung Galaxy S9 with Exynos 9810 on deck pops up in benchmark, humiliates Snapdragon 845

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are just around the corner, and just as one could expect, almost everything regarding these anticipated devices is known at this point. Come to think of, only camera samples remain to be released to the world, but we probably wouldn’t have to wait for those for too long – after all, the Galaxies go official in less than two weeks and we will be at the epicenter of their debut to provide you with all the necessary coverage.

Now, a new benchmark entry on Geekbench seems to be giving us a sneak peek at the performance of the Exynos 9810-powered …

Samsung Galaxy S9 dummy pops up in short video

Smartphone manufacturers often make “dummy” units to the exact specs of their upcoming hot devices. These are distributed to accessory-making partners to make their job easier and help them have products ready as soon as the phone launches. For example, popular case makers can score a dummy to test their new case models against and be ready with any corrections well before the handset is actually announced.

Of course, footage of such dummies will sometimes leak and it looks like this has just happened with a Galaxy S9 dummy unit. At least that’s what the person who leaked the video claims.

Weird new Compact Xperia pops up on benchmark site: is Sony pulling a OnePlus X?

The Sony Xperia Compact series phones are a favorite of Android users who prefer small devices. In a world where a 5.2-inch display seems to be the absolute minimum for a flagship phone, Sony seems to be the only one who caters to the niche that prefers a small, but still powerful device. The Compact series gets refreshed every couple of years and will usually have top-tier specs, but a 4.6-inch screen and a much smaller body than the mainstream flagships of the year. The only exception to this trend is 2016’s Xperia X Compact, which was a midranger, disappointing fans …

It is alive! Chinese iPhone 8 clone pops up on short video

Ah, the world of counterfeit phones — ain’t it grand? For the past few years, we’ve seen knockoffs of various hot and heavily-anticipated phones pop up here and there. The amusing thing is that some clones get “released” before the device they are copying is ever even announced. Of course, the iPhone 8 being… well — the iPhone 8 — knockoffs are guaranteed. And lo and behold, one has already been caught in the wild.

What follows below is an 8-second video, which shows us an iPhone clone running on Android (presumably). It looks quite close to what we expect the iPhone 8’s final design to …

Mystery Moto phone pops up on a benchmark. Could be a selfie-centric variant of the Moto X4?

For a while now, we’ve been hearing whispers of a new Moto X phone coming our way. The last time we saw the X line was in 2015 when the Moto X Style was actually Motorola’s flagship phone. Since then, it has been replaced by the Moto Z, and rumors of the X coming back may sound confusing at first considering the fact that there’s also a Moto Z2 on the way. However, it appears that the X will not try to rival or cannibalize the Z family of handsets.

Earlier rumors have said that the new phone will, indeed, be named Moto X4, that it will rock a metallic body, and …

Alleged protective case for the iPhone 8 pops up in photo, reaffirms some rumors

So, word on the street is that, this September, Apple will be unveiling not two but three new iPhones — the successors of the current models will be named iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, and a new design will come, which we currently call the iPhone 8 (some rumors suggest iPhone X or iPhone Edition). The latter is expected to have an all-screen design, like the ones we’ve seen on the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8, which just launched.

We’ve been seeing some leaks regarding the mysterious iPhone 8 for the past couple of weeks — one suggested that the TouchID fingerprint …

Witness this: OnePlus 3T in shiny chrome paint job pops up

A new set of images depicting a shiny new color version of the OnePlus 3T is currently making the rounds across the interwebs. The paint job in question is a glossy chrome one and looks as gleaming as it gets. Shiny!

No idea when this rumored color version of the job might become official, but given that OnePlus is often unpredictable and also on something like a color-version-release spree, we might be rather closer to an eventual release of that one.
As a reminder, a couple of weeks ago OnePlus released a limited edition (250 units) …

Fake Galaxy S8 pops up on photos again. Beware, this thing may actually be real and for sale

So, a few days ago, we saw photos of a knock-off Galaxy S8 unit caught in the wild in China. Of course, despite the evidence of its existence looking pretty convincing, with these things, you don’t know if it’s a gag, a misplaced early prototype, or whatever else. However, today, a different source has leaked another set of photos of a fake Galaxy S8, and we may or may not see these boom in the near future.

The source is a Weibo (Chinese social media) poster, who uploaded the pictures of the handset, tagged with the simple sentence “Huaqiangbei is being abusive”. The photos show a phone, …
