OxygenOS 4.1.0 featuring Android 7.1.1 for OnePlus 3 and 3T starts rolling out

There aren’t many smartphones out there that are running Android 7.1 Nougat operating system, but OnePlus made sure that its high-end 3 and 3T handsets are among them.

The Chinese company follows a pretty tight software update schedule, but only when it comes to its two flagships, the OnePlus 3 and 3T. That being said, it looks like both smartphones are now eligible for a new update that adds a couple of improvements.

First off, OxygenOS 4.1.0 brings the latest March security patch to the OnePlus 3 and 3T, which should address many of the exploits found by …

Only 250 units will be made available, priced at the equivalent of $510 USD. The phone will be available from colette’s  Paris store on March 21st as soon as the door opens at 11am local time. "Never Settle" teaser maybe hints at OnePlus 4 (OnePlus 5?). Or just a jet black color for an existing product

By now, anyone who dares call themselves a smartphone fan knows about OnePlus — the company that broke out with an extreme bang-for-the-buck flagship device, then stirred some controversy with a number of questionable giveaway contests, and finally hit all the right notes with its 3rd flagship, the OnePlus 3 (and even more so with it’s upgraded variant – the 3T). Now, as these things go, the time for another refresh of the OnePlus line of devices is drawing near, and rumors are picking up.

First, we heard that the OnePlus 4 would have a massive 4,000 mAh battery and 6 GB or even 8 GB of …

Android 7.1 Nougat beta starts hitting OnePlus 3 and 3T

OnePlus is keeping up with the timely Android Nougat updates, as the Chinese company announced a new Android 7.1 Nougat update is available for its 3 and 3T smartphones. The beta build is pushed OTA (over the air) to all those who agreed to participate in the beta program.

There’s one caveat, as the new Android 7.1 Nougat beta build is based on HydrogenOS, which is meant for the Chinese versions of the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

It’s a bit unusual for the Chinese variants to get a new update before the global version, especially that many users in China actually prefer …

LG G6 vs OnePlus 3T: First look

LG lifted the wraps off the G6 at MWC earlier today, finally making the sleek flagship official. It is truly a sight to behold with its beautiful 5.7-inch “FullVision” display and its almost bezel-less design, but for all the bells and whistles that it offers, at its core pumps last year’s Snapdragon 821 processor.

With that said, and apart from all its fresh luster, what more does the LG G6 have to offer when compared to a similarly spec’d phone, say, last year’s excellent OnePlus 3T, which too is powered by the SD 821?

LG G6 vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus vs OnePlus 3T: specs comparison showdown

The LG G6 is finally here and it seems to be pretty close to that no-compromise smartphone that LG lovers have been lusting after for a while now.
Modular design is out — this one-off experiment proved to be unpopular with the regular Joes out there and didn’t really kick off. Instead, LG has opted for a full-metal, water-resistant body that really differs from everything else that LG has come up with so far. Probably the biggest highlight of the G6 is its screen size in relation to the front of the phone – it’s one of the most efficient devices in this …

OnePlus 3T owners get kinky with their phone in new video; win a pair of OnePlus 3T handsets

With Valentine’s Day here now, OnePlus has released a new video for the OnePlus 3T that is downright kinky. Hey, we’d be the first to understand why someone might love the phone. It has high-end specs that include the Snapdragon 821 chipset under the hood, 16MP cameras both front and back, 6GB of RAM, a 3400mAh battery and the Dash Charge rapid charging system. But would you actually show your love for the device by licking it with your tongue? That is what various men and woman are doing throughout the video, even on all 5.5-inches of the display. The resolution of the screen is 1080 x …

Official video shows how a 30 minute commute powers up a OnePlus 3T for the rest of the day

Rapid charging has become a major feature on high-end smartphones like the OnePlus 3T. Most handset manufacturers use a high voltage charger to power up the depleted battery, and while this does make charging faster, it also warms up the phone which extends charging times. OnePlus’ Dash Charge uses a different method. Dash Charge increases the amperage allowing the charger to carry more current to the cell. This charges the battery even faster, and at a lower temperature too. As a result, the OnePlus 3T on Dash Charge will generate enough battery life in a 30-minute commute to last the …

OnePlus 3 and 3T receive OxygenOS 4.0 Nougat

I would like to take this opportunity to say that I was wrong. When I received nothing but another beta build a few days ago on my OnePlus 3, I was highly skeptical about OnePlus making its goal of getting Nougat out on the stable channel for its flagship devices by the end of 2016. Well, here we are in the final hours of the year and the notorious manufacturer has come through. Both the OnePlus 3 and 3T are receiving OxygenOS 4.0, i.e. Nougat, via a staged rollout starting today.

The changelog for both device updates is the same, so here it is:
– Upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat
– New Notifications Design
– New Settings Menu Design
– Multi-Window View
– Notification Direct Reply
– Custom DPI Support
-Added Status Bar Icon Options
– Improved Shelf Customization

The OnePlus 3 is not new to Nougat. It received it back in November via Open Beta builds, which I found to be quite stable. One really odd thing is that, alongside this official push to Android 7.0, OnePlus also decided to release Open Beta 1 for the 3T. I am not entirely certain on what the point of that is… but whatever.

The OTA will start rolling out incrementally, as usual. This should feel rather exciting for those of you that have chosen to remain on the stable channel. I can tell you that Nougat is really awesome on the OnePlus 3, so have fun!

OnePlus smartphone Show Dual Camera Setup

Unannounced OnePlus smartphone with dual camera setup rumored to be released in October 2015

Even before making the OnePlus 2 smartphone official this summer, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had revealed that their next smartphone will be unveiled before Christmas this year. This week alleged leaked renders of the device have surfaced online.

According to a Chinese source (cited by Wccftech), OnePlus’ next OnePlus smartphone will have a better design compared to the OnePlus 2. It will likely to have an elegant design.

The leaked renders of the device indicate that the next OnePlus will most likely sport two cameras on the back. This means that the phone will come fitted with a dual-camera setup just like the Huawei Honor 6 Plus and others. Also, it has a dual-flash functionality, which is supposed to improve image quality in low lighted areas.

According to the source, Carl Pei mentioned that the smartphone will be aimed at a “different type of audience.” However, this statement could mean anything because of its vagueness.

On the specs front, one is hoping that OnePlus will not use the Snapdragon 810 processor that currently powers the OnePlus 2 smartphones and instead use a different processor. The Snapdragon 820 processor doesn’t seem an option, as it is expected to be out sometime in Q1 2016.

The OnePlus 2 flagship smartphone features a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (401ppi), an octa-core Snapdragon 810 in combination with 3GB/4GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 64GB of internal storage. We will have to wait and watch as to how the new OnePlus model will top this spec sheet.

On the other hand, as there is currently no official confirmation or evidence that the leaked images are legit, we will have to take them with a pinch of salt. We will also have to keep in mind that the end product might end up looking completely different, which is rumored to be released in October.
