5 OnePlus 5 rumored features that could give the Samsung Galaxy S8 a run for the money

While everyone’s talking about the Galaxy S8 and breaking Samsung’s pre-order records, a tiny company in China is rumored to be preparing its ultimate challenger in the Android realm – a smartphone that plays in the same design and performance league, but costs a lot less. Think $300 less, or more! We are talking about OnePlus and the upcoming OnePlus 5.

Skipping a number to prevent the bad fortune the Chinese associate with 4, the handset is rumored to be spec’d to the nines and comparatively design-conscious. Here are 5 things about the OnePlus 5 that …

OnePlus still mum on Android Nougat update for the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X, what gives?

Chinese company OnePlus has been in the spotlight since Google released Android 7.0 Nougat thanks to the flow of updates it provided to customers owning the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones.

However, it looks like by focusing all its resources on getting updates for its latest high-end phones, the company forgot its promise to OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X owners, who have yet to receive the long-awaited Android Nougat update.

Disgruntled OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X users have kicked off a new Thunderclap campaign with the purpose of making OnePlus listen to their voices. …

Latest rumored OnePlus 5 specs include 8GB of RAM

Because the number 4 in Chinese is considered bad luck (it looks like the Chinese word for death), OnePlus is expected to go from the OnePlus 3T to the OnePlus 5. According to a report out of China, the OnePlus 5 is going to continue the manufacturer’s use of high end specs. Just like the OnePlus 3 was one of the first handsets to sport 6GB of RAM, the newest speculation has the OnePlus 5 employing 8GB of Random Access Memory. To put that in perspective, that is twice the amount found in today’s flagship models.

The Snapdragon 835 chipset will power the new unit, which means that it will …

OnePlus co-founder says touch input lag has finally been fixed, alert slider about to get tweaked?

OnePlus sure makes great bang-for-the-buck devices. The original Flagship Killer — the OnePlus One — was a great performer and awesome all-rounder for half the price of its competitors at the time; the OnePlus 2 was a bit of a let-down; but the OnePlus 3 and consecutive OnePlus 3T knocked it out of the park with design materials, camera, and hardware, while maintaining a very accessible price, at $439. Of course, nothing in this world is perfect, and despite being pretty good devices, OnePlus’ phones are still plagued by a few issues, which can annoy the tech heads out there.

One such issue …

Witness this: OnePlus 3T in shiny chrome paint job pops up

A new set of images depicting a shiny new color version of the OnePlus 3T is currently making the rounds across the interwebs. The paint job in question is a glossy chrome one and looks as gleaming as it gets. Shiny!

No idea when this rumored color version of the job might become official, but given that OnePlus is often unpredictable and also on something like a color-version-release spree, we might be rather closer to an eventual release of that one.
As a reminder, a couple of weeks ago OnePlus released a limited edition (250 units) …

OxygenOS Open Beta 4 for OnePlus 3 and 3T brings new launcher, support for Android 7.1.1 shortcuts

OnePlus relentlessly pushes new software updates to its high-end smartphones, the OnePlus 3 and 3T. The newest one targets users who opted for the Open Beta ring and wish to try out new features and improvements before they are delivered to the general public.

According to OnePlus, the 4th Open Beta build brings many new features that many OnePlus 3 and 3T owners didn’t expect to come so soon. For example, the Chinese company added a brand new launcher, as well as support for shortcuts on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The app drawer and UI for launcher settings …

OnePlus apparently made a real-life energy drink, called 'Dash Energy'

It’s that time of the year again, folks: April 1 is here, and #brands are following the time-honored tradition of reminding people of their existence playing tricks on their customers for laughs. “Join the rebellion with Dash Energy, and revolutionize the way you recharge,” invites us the product’s page. The 8-hour sleep is now a thing of the past: “All …

OnePlus teases big Dash Charge announcement tomorrow

A tweet from OnePlus hints that the company will be making a big announcement tomorrow related to its Dash Charge rapid charging system. With Dash Charge, found on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, you can have your battery charged enough to last a full day after just 30-minutes. In other words, the 3000mAh battery on the OnePlus 3 and the 3400mAh battery on the OnePlus 3T will go from 0% to 63% in about the same time you can watch an episode (including commercials) of Schitt’s Creek.

One tweet disseminated by the upstart smartphone manufacturer asks, “What should we Dash Charge next?” That …

More importantly, OnePlus announced earlier today that its two high-end smartphones, OnePlus 3 and 3T, should both have the personal digital assistant installed.

Yay, the Google Assistant is now available on the #OnePlus3 and 3T. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve asked your assistant? …
