Leaked Galaxy S9+ vs S8+ factory schematics solve the mystery of the thickening bezels

We had no reasons to doubt Mr Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) when he disclosed for us the purported official Galaxy S9 and S9+ renders, as he has been spot on since the days Samsung was using plastic housing for its flagships, but some were irked by the evidently thicker side bezels depicted by the renders.

The phones look almost like the new midrange A-series, rather than unchanged Galaxy S8 successor, and the side curve is much less evident than last year, for instance. We chalked it off to a different drawing perspective, but now another reputable leaker is …

A mystery update is delivered OTA to several Pixel 2 owners

A small group of Pixel 2 owners were surprised to receive an unexpected second update this month. The new files weighed in at 41.8MB, and fixes critical bugs while improving the performance and stability of the model. The new build number was revised to OPM2.171019.016, which does not match the number seen on the Factory Images page for the Pixel 2. To deepen the mystery, Google did not issue a detailed changelist for the update.

Google’s MO with the Pixel has been to disseminate an update early each month that brings the latest Android security patch to the device, along with any bug fixes. …

Get your wand and check out the first trailer for the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery game

Last month, we told you to expect the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery game to be released for iOS and Android this coming spring. The game allows users to create their own character who gets to experience life as a Hogwarts student. A trailer for the game has been released, and you can view it by tapping on the video that appears at the top of this story (with your finger, not a wand). This is an RPG game, which means that how you fare is dependent on the choices you make. Sure enough, that echoes a comment made by Hogwarts Headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore, which is shown at the beginning …

Mystery ZTE phone gets certified by Wi-Fi Alliance with Android 8.1 installed; is it the Axon 8?

ZTE is not a brand that dominates the conversation around the dinner table in the states, although its profile might have received a little boost with the release of the ZTE Axon M. The dual-screened folding phone (yeah, we said it) may not offer the form factor that the Samsung Galaxy X will, but these are still early days for this category. We digress. What we want to discuss now is a new mystery model from ZTE that was just certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

Carrying the model number Z2321U, the Wi-Fi Alliance lists the device as an LTE/CDMA Multi-Mode Digital Mobile Phone. More interesting …

Mystery Moto phone pops up on a benchmark. Could be a selfie-centric variant of the Moto X4?

For a while now, we’ve been hearing whispers of a new Moto X phone coming our way. The last time we saw the X line was in 2015 when the Moto X Style was actually Motorola’s flagship phone. Since then, it has been replaced by the Moto Z, and rumors of the X coming back may sound confusing at first considering the fact that there’s also a Moto Z2 on the way. However, it appears that the X will not try to rival or cannibalize the Z family of handsets.

Earlier rumors have said that the new phone will, indeed, be named Moto X4, that it will rock a metallic body, and …

The attraction? The company is one of the largest owners of 28 GHz and 39 GHz millimeter wave spectrum. These airwaves will be used by carriers building out their next-generation 5G network.

The day of AT&T’s announcement, the stock soared from $36.48 to $89.75, still below AT&T’s $95.63 per share offer. Two weeks later, a mystery bidder (rumored to be Verizon) topped AT&T with a bid …
