Moto Mod leaks reveal images of the Moto Power Pack and next-gen Moto Style Shells

We’ve seen images of what allegedly is the Moto Z2 Force, the sequel to this year’s Lenovo/Motorola flagship. The Moto Z2 line will continue to feature the 16 pins on the bottom rear of the handsets so that the modular Moto Mod accessories can magnetically be attached to any of the follow-up models. Today, images claiming to show a couple of new Moto Mods have been disseminated.

One of the pictures is said to be a Moto Power Pack. While we don’t know the capacity of the battery inside, already there are other Moto Mods available for the purpose of extending the battery life of the phone …

Lenovo confirms Android 7.0 Nougat global rollout for Moto G4 Play starts in June

The Moto G4 series is the next to get Android 7.0 Nougat update if we are to believe the latest reports. The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus were the first to receive the update at the end of last year, but only in India.

Last month, Motorola pushed the update to the Moto G4 Plus in the United States. However, there’s one more Moto G4 smartphone that hasn’t been upgraded to Nougat yet.

The Moto G4 Play seems to be the last of the Moto G4 series to get the update. Lenovo recently confirmed the smartphone won’t receive any Android 7.0 Nougat updates until June.

On the bright side, …

Leaked press render of the Moto Z2 Play shows a very incremental update

Although a drastic departure from the previous Moto X flagship series, Motorola and Lenovo’s Moto Z lineup offered some of the most interesting smartphones of 2016. Although not entirely modular like the now-deceased Project Ara, the Moto Z lineup’s ability to swap battery packs, speakers, projectors, and more on the back of the phones still remains incredibly futuristic and sleek.

Of all the Moto Z smartphones that were released last year, the most affordable was that of the Moto Z Play. The Z Play aimed to offer access into Motorola’s Moto Mod ecosystem for a low price, and …

Moto C and Moto C Plus certified in Russia ahead of official announcement

It’s no secret that Motorola Mobility has had its difficulties in recent times. Taken over by Google in 2011 before being passed onto Lenovo three years later, things looked ominous when the China-based company laid off a large chunk of its Motorola workforce last fall. But with the Moto Z series having shown flair in the flagship arena, things are looking up, and the likes of the Moto G and E series have continually demonstrated appeal to lower-budget audiences. With the latter in mind, recent reports have indicated that dirt-cheap Moto C is in the pipeline …

Moto G5 Plus won't call 911 when using Verizon's VoLTE

If you’re a Verizon subscriber rocking the Moto G5 Plus, better hope that you don’t have an emergency while using Big Red’s VoLTE service. A bug is preventing the Moto G5 Plus from dialing the 911 emergency number when attempting to make the call over LTE. Motorola/Lenovo has come clean, admitting that there is a software glitch that is preventing Verizon subscribers from summoning emergency help with this specific phone. Again, this is only happening on VoLTE.

While Motorola/Lenovo says that it is working on a fix for the issue, turning off VoLTE will eliminate the problem for now. Matt, …

Company developing a physical QWERTY keyboard Moto Mod will meet with Lenovo and Verizon

Last month, we told you about a company called Livermorium that is developing a third-party physical QWERTY keyboard Moto Mod. The accessory is listed on Indiegogo where the company is trying to raise the $100,000 it needs to guarantee production. With 15-days left on the crowdfunding site, Livermorium has raised a tad more than $47,000 from 638 backers. If you like the idea of adding a QWERTY keyboard to your Moto Z device, you might want to donate $60 for a Super Early Bird model. The company plans on selling them for $120 at retail, if it can get the necessary funding.

Looking very similar …

T-Mobile to carry the Motorola Moto Z2 Force

Yesterday, when we showed you renders of the upcoming Motorola Moto Z2 Force, we told you that the handset might not be a Verizon exclusive. Now, Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) is confirming that the Z2 Force will be released on at least two major US carriers. More exactly, besides landing at Verizon, the Moto Z2 Force will also be launched by T-Mobile.

For now, details on timing and pricing are missing, but we assume we’ll hear more about this in the coming months. What’s probably a safe bet is that the new smartphone will be called Moto Z2 Force Droid Edition on Verizon, …

Moto Z Play to get Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, though Motorola doesn't know when

Last month, Motorola diligently brought the Moto Z Play to Android 7.0 Nougat. The update included an enhanced version of Doze Mode to help extend battery life, in addition to multi-window capabilities, customized quick settings menu, and a “clear all” button to close all open apps with a single tap – among many other fixes and improvements contained in Nougat.

Android 7.0 isn’t the end of the road for the Moto Z Play, however. Chatting with customer support, an XDA forums user asked when the Z Play is getting Android 7.1.1. The Motorola representative confirmed that an update is in …

First spotted several days ago, the latter model can now be seen in a set of clear renders and a 360-degree video, thanks to @OnLeaks and Android Authority. Thus, we’re now able to take a pretty good look at the upcoming handset from all angles.

Like the Moto Z Force released last year, the Moto Z2 Force reportedly sports a 5.5-inch display (with 1440 x 2560 pixels), and has a largely similar design – including support for Moto Mods. However, there’s a significant and surprising …
