Motorola launches Moto Folio, the cheapest Moto Mod to date (compatible with all Moto Z phones)

Motorola this week started selling a brand new Moto Mod for
its Moto Z series of smartphones. Called Moto Folio, the new accessory is currently
priced at just $11.24, thus being the cheapest Moto Mod to date.

Basically, the Moto Folio is nothing more than a protective
case with an inner pocket for a card (or your ID). However, this is part of the
Moto Mod family because it attaches to your Moto Z via the phone’s rear magnetic
connectors – just like any other Moto Mod.

When the Moto Folio is on, your Moto Z will gain 55 grams in
weight and 3.5 mm in thickness. The case …

May the Moto Z Force be with you; a Star Wars Moto Mod is coming, but only to China

So what is with this Star Wars thing? You think it might catch on? That’s a joke, obviously, considering that the franchise is one of the all-time great theater draws. Just the other day, we told you that the OnePlus 5T is going to be available in a special Star Wars Edition. And today, there is word that Motorola will jump on board the now Disney controlled series by offering a Star Wars based Moto Mod.

This makes a lot of sense for Motorola. Any company that uses the word Force to name some of its Android handsets, has an instant Star Wars connection. Now before you get your hopes …

Motorola's Polaroid Insta-Share Printer moto mod goes official, priced to sell at $200

Last month news about an unannounced moto mod called Polaroid Insta-Share Printer made headlines. Today, the US-based company has taken the wraps off the previously rumored Moto Mod.

Starting this week, the Polaroid Insta-Share Printer moto mod will be available for purchase at Verizon for $200. Motorola also announced it will go on sale in other markets globally “in the coming months.”

As the name suggests, the moto mod can be attached to a compatible Motorola smartphone and used to print the pictures taken with the phone’s camera while on the go. Simply …

Motorola disses Apple and other phone makers in new Moto Mod ads

Motorola today released two new video ads that feature
Apple’s iPhone 8 Plus, alongside the Moto Z2 smartphone and some Moto Mods. In these ads –
embedded below – Motorola touts the superiority of its Z2, as “your
phone” (including the iPhone 8) can’t “get loud” and can’t turn
into a projector. Of course, the Moto Z2 can’t do that by itself, either, as it
does it with the help of Moto Mods – including the recently released Moto Mod
Speaker with Amazon Alexa, and the Moto Insta-share Projector.

Furthermore, Motorola doesn’t appear to be impressed with
iPhone 8 Plus’ Portrait …

Report: Soon you'll watch DirecTV on your large screen set using the AT&T Mobile TV Cast Moto Mod

Just the other day, we told you that next month, Amazon’s Alexa will be accessible through a new Moto Mod that will attach to the back of Moto Z and Moto Z2 handsets. Now, a report published today states that Motorola and AT&T have partnered to develop the AT&T Mobile TV Cast Moto Mod. With this accessory, you will be able connect to a compatible television set allowing you to watch DirecTV on a larger screen.

Of course, for this to have any value, you have to be a subscriber to DirecTV Now. This is an app that features streaming video in the form of live TV channels and on-demand …

Moto's Gamepad mod to cost $79, available starting August 25 exclusively through Verizon

Motorola’s Gamepad mod is one of the most obvious application of the company’s mods concept, taking advantage of the low-latency input while also acting as a handy battery pack. So it’s a bit surprising just how late it’s making its debut: we’ve already seen the release of the Moto Z2 Force, the second flagship in the mod-compatible Z line of phones, but the Gamepad has still not been made available for purchase, despite being announced all the way back in February.

This will change soon, however, as the new mod now has an official release date: …

Moto Gamepad Moto Mod available for pre-orders today exclusively from Verizon

As you know, the sequel to the Moto Z Force Droid is not a Verizon exclusive. In addition to Big Red, the new Moto Z2 Force can be purchased through T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. However, there are still parts of the Moto ecosystem that are available only from Verizon. For example, in the states the Motorola Moto Gamepad Moto Mod is now available for pre-orders. Starting today you can reserve the accessory, priced at $79.99, only from Verizon. The product is designed to turn any of the handsets in the Moto Z and Moto Z2 series into a video game player.

The Moto GamePad Moto Mod is equipped …

Moto GamePad hands-on: Super-charge gaming with the new Moto Mod

Last year, Motorola opened the door on hardware expansion for its smartphones with the launch of the new Moto Z series, complete with support for Moto Mods add-ons. While we got a decent selection of Moto Mod options in that first batch, including some interesting ideas like a portable projector, a modular platform is going to live or die based on the amount of hardware support it sees; would Motorola be in this for the long haul?

The good news there is that the answer seems to be “very much yes,” and 2017 has already seen the launch of a bunch of new Moto Mods, including the brand-new …

Motorola Moto Z2 Force and 360 camera mod hands-on

Today is the (ongoing) launch event for the Moto Z2 Force.
The Z2 was accompanied by the unveiling of two more Moto Mods, as well: the 360
Camera Mod which launched today, and the Moto Gamepad, which is said to launch later
this summer. Motorola’s also throwing a full-blown launch party for the Z2
Force later today, but in the mean time we figured we’d break you off with a little
preview of the two products launched today.

Ta-da! Here it is, the Moto Z2 Force, in all its
unbreakable* glory.

*The Z2 Force is said to be unbreakable from drops as high
as five …

Pre-order the Moto Z2 Force from Verizon for $15 a month and receive a free Moto Mod projector

Last year, Verizon had the Motorola Moto Z Force Droid as an exclusive in the states. For the sequel this year, the Droid branding was removed and today all four major U.S. wireless operators announced that they were taking pre-orders of the Moto Z2 Force. And that, of course, includes Verizon. Not that this is the only change made to last year’s flagship phone. We can start with the addition of a second camera on the back of the handset, allowing users to take pictures with the much desired “blur” effect.

The fingerprint scanner is now a pill shape instead of a square, and the battery …
