A midranger to rule them all: leaked Galaxy A7 (2018) specs taunt new Exynos and 6GB RAM

Samsung’s Galaxy A-series is the sweet spot between the affordable but lowly J-line, and the flagship S portfolio, so every time a new one is on the horizon, our collective attention peaks. The purported specs for the Galaxy A7 (2018) just leaked out on Geekbench, and, since the line is expected to follow the new bezel-less design of Samsung, they are only icing on the potential A-series cake.

The upcoming Galaxy A7 (SM-A730F) is listed with an Exynos 7885 chipset, whose leaked specs back in the summer denoted a 14nm octa-core processor with 2x A73 + 6x A53 cores, …

Meet the Xiaomi Mi A1: an affordable mid-ranger with stock Android and fancy dual camera

A few days ago, we reported that Xiaomi is planning to announce an entirely new lineup of phones on September 5. Based on the teasers released at the time, our guess was that the Chinese manufacturer planned to introduce the next Android One phone, a fruit of its collaboration with Google.

This has indeed happened, as today, the company unveiled its new Mi A1 model during an event in New Delhi, India. At a first glance, Xiaomi seems to have made the A1 specifically for this particular South Asian market, but the phone maker actually plans to introduce …

Moto X4 hands-on: Now a mid-ranger beauty

A funny thing seemed to occur when Lenovo started calling the shots with Motorola. The beloved Moto X line slowly began to scale back, and in the last couple of years, another line supplanted it in being the flagship line in Moto’s portfolio – that was the Moto Z. Now, after a couple of years of being dormant, it looks as though that we’re finally getting a proper successor to the last one in the series; the Moto X4.

Lenovo-Motorola made a special surprise during its IFA 2017 press conference, officially announcing the phone. What’s shocking, though, is the …

The Moto X4 is official: dual-camera mid-ranger beauty

The Moto X4, Moto’s latest mid-ranger, is now official!

Sporting a 5.2-inch 1080p display, the Moto X4 is an upper-mid-range handset powered by a Snapdragon 630 processor, clocked at 2.2GHz, and backed by a 3000 mAh battery with Turbo Charging. Other highlight features include IP68 rating for dust- and water-resistance, a dual-camera system that pairs together a 12 MP and an 8MP shooter, capable of delivering the oh-so trendy shallow depth of field simulation, affectionately referred to by many as “bokeh”, and a 16MP camera with a low-light adaptive mode.

Got only $100 for a smartphone? ZTE introduces the Blade Spark, the budget-friendly midranger

ZTE is no stranger to the budget-oriented market as it often sets an aggressive pricing on their phones, putting it well inside the bargain range. Today, the company has announced its newest lower-tier phone — an AT&T exclusive, which will set you back only $100. Is it worth it?

The handset in question is a part of the Blade family and is called ZTE Blade Spark. With its rather light price-tag, its specs are justifiably low-tier — a quad-core, 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage (7 GB available to user) expandable via microSD. The display is rather …

Honor 6A mid-ranger with Android Nougat launched in Europe for €169

The Honor 6A is not necessarily a new device since it’s been introduced in China back in May, but Europeans got the option to buy it only recently. Honor decided that its previously China-exclusive handset would make a fine addition to its portfolio of mid-range smartphones aimed at the European market.

Starting this week, the Honor 6A will be available for purchase at various retailer across Europe for €169, a decent price considering its confirmed specs. The European version of Honor 6A is only slightly different than the Chinese variant when it comes to hardware.

HTC One X10 mid-ranger is official in Russia; phone carries a 4000mAh battery (UPDATE)

UPDATE: HTC has issued a press release. The phone will be launched in Russia this month in black and silver, priced at the equivalent of $355 USD.

Ever since we showed you the leaked teaser of the HTC One X10 that Evan Blass originally tweeted, we could sense (no pun intended) that HTC fans were getting giddy. Sure, the phone looked like a premium model with its fancy get up, but that wasn’t the reason for the wide smiles from the HTC faithful. Those came from the tag line which read “big style meets bigger battery.”

For years, HTC had two major issues that fans could not get …

New image of HTC One X10 mid-ranger leaks

Early in January, when everyone was still accidentally writing 2016 on their checks, tipster Evan Blass posted a tweet about the HTC One X10. This is a mid range model that would be a sequel to the HTC One X9. Blass’ missive included an image of the One X10 along with the news that the phone would be unveiled some time in the first quarter. We are a little more than half way through that three month period, and to be honest with you, we sort of lost track of the HTC One X10. It wasn’t like HTC didn’t have the new U Ultra and HTC U Play to occupy the part of our brain that deals with the manufacturer.
