China’s Xiaomi is slowly but steadily amping up its attempts to successfully penetrate the western market, and while its official presence in the US is still a mirage, the prolific device manufacturer has not abandoned its desires to become a household name.

It would seem that Xiaomi will be attending the important MWC trade show in Barcelona, Spain, this year, which will mark its first presence on such a large and important expo. The company was heavily rumored to attend last year’s MWC, but ultimately skipped it.

Xiaomi resumes Android Oreo for Mi A1 roll-out, here's what's fixed

Xiaomi’s Android Oreo update for the Mi A1 was a bit rushed, which is why many users have experienced issues with some of the phone’s features, including battery drainage, GPS icon, fingerprint sensor, audio quality and many more.

Given the negative feedback received, Xiaomi pulled the update last week and promised to resume the roll-out after it patches the issues. It appears that it didn’t take too long for Xiaomi to fix all the problems in the first build, as the Chinese company confirmed Android 8.0 Oreo is now rolling out to the Mi A1 once again.

If …

Xiaomi pulls Android 8.0 Oreo update for Mi A1 due to performance issues

The last day of 2017 brought a nice gift for Xiaomi customers using a Mi A1 smartphone, as the handset maker started pushing out the promised Android 8.0 Oreo update. Unfortunately, the update seems to have been rushed to meet the deadline announced by Xiaomi a while ago.

Now, Xiaomi announced that due to the many issues experienced by Mi A1 owners who updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, they are putting the roll-out on hold until they fix these bugs.

It appears that Xiaomi Mi A1 users reported many problems after the update, including issues with the camera, dialer …

After delivering the promised Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Mi A1, Xiaomi now plans to release a similar update for the Mi Mix 2, the sequel to the phablet that changed the way smartphone makers design their products.

Xiaomi has just announced that it is now recruiting testers for its Android Oreo beta program for the Mi Mix 2. More importantly, the recruitment is made for the global version of the highly-anticipated update.

According to Xiaomi, Mi Mix 2 owners interested to participate in the beta program will be able to apply until the end of January …

Xiaomi Mi A1 now receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update

Xiaomi’s first Android One smartphone, the Mi A1 is finally eligible for an Android 8.0 Oreo update after a short period of beta testing. Unlike many of its Android smartphones that are selling exclusively in China, the Mi A1 is available in a lot more countries.

Also, since it’s part of the Android One program, the smartphone should be among the first to receive a major Android OS update. Unfortunately, it took Xiaomi quite a long time to bring Oreo to the Mi A1.

Initially introduced in China in early September, the Mi A1 made its debut in select European …

Xiaomi to add iPhone X-like "full display gestures" to Mi MIX and Redmi 5 series phones

Xiaomi is testing new gesture controls for some of its smartphone models. The so-called “full display gestures” have been included in the latest beta build of MIUI 9, the company’s custom Android-based firmware.
Swiping up from the bottom of the display will get you to the home screen. Add a short pause to the same motion and you’ll activate the “Recents” screen. Lastly, swiping from the left or right of the screen to the middle will return you to a previous page.
It looks like Xiaomi has drawn inspiration …

Android Oreo beta brings fast charging to Xiaomi Mi A1

It’s always great when a software update adds a feature that makes your handset so much better. That is the case with the Xiaomi Mi A1. The Android Oreo closed beta that Xiaomi has the phone running on, apparently adds a fast charging feature that was not available with the version of the phone that launched with Android Nougat on board. One user, after installing the Android Oreo beta on his Mi A1, discovered that it takes only 92 minutes for the battery to go from 0% to 100%. Before the update, it took more than two-hours to do the same thing. One note of interest. This was accomplished using …

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 rumored to carry a 7-inch display and a 5500mAh battery

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was released this past June, carrying a 6.4-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 FHD resolution, powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC. That is a pretty big screen for a handset, but not close to the size of the display that is rumored to be featured on the Mi Max 3. If the latest rumor is right, the Mi Max 3 will be encroaching on tablet territory with a screen size of 7-inches. The aspect ratio will weigh in at 18:9, and the panel will sport thinner bezels than those seen on the first two models in this series. The early betting line has the 1080 x 2160 FHD+ resolution the favorite …

The Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition features a vivid red color

Back in September, we told you all about the Xiaomi Mi A1. As an Android One handset (that’s what A1 stands for) this device features stock Android and will be among the first Android phones to receive updates from Google. In fact, before the ball drops in Times Square in a little over two weeks, the phone is supposed to receive Android Oreo. But that’s not the big news today.

A Special Edition of the Xiaomi Mi A1 has been introduced by the manufacturer. What makes it so special? Glad you asked. This variant of the phone is wearing a vivid red color. Outside of the new color, nothing about …
