Check out Meizu Pro 7's auxiliary AMOLED rear display in action

Just yesterday, a rather peculiar phone became official – the Meizu Pro 7. It’s a device that’s likely never ever jettisoning outside of mainland China and doesn’t have particularly high aspirations to be Meizu’s proper flagship and battle the Galaxies and iPhones of the world, but still has a somewhat intriguing feature on board that’s unlike anything we’ve seen thus far.
See, the Meizu Pro 7 has a tiny display at the back. It’s a proper display, with none of that e-ink non-sense that certain exotic devices boast. Being a touchscreen AMOLED one, it allows …

The Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus are now official: twice the screen, twice the camera

Meizu has traditionally been one of those Chinese phone makers you’ve probably heard about, but never really given much thought to. It’s not that their devices have been bad by any measure — they’ve just been mostly forgettable.

But this is now in the past: the company has now formally introduced us to its latest flagship duo, and if it’s one thing they possess in spades, it’s personality. You see, while we’ve seen several different implementations of the “second screen on a smartphone” idea (see: Samsung’s Galaxy Folder series, LG’s V20, or the …

Meizu Pro 7 rumor review: display, camera, specs and everything else we know so far

Most of you out there may not think of Meizu as a company known for its innovative devices — hell, most of you may not even think about Meizu at all. So far, the Chinese phone maker’s offerings have been the epitome of the cheap, soulless black rectangle people have come to associate with the People’s Republic. Sure, there’s a fairly good reason for that — fly too high too fast and you’ll turn into the next LeEco — but it’s still funny just how same-ish all their phones have looked like in the past.

But not for long.
It’s …

Both Meizu Pro 7 series smartphones will use MediaTek chipsets

Meizu is expected to unveil its Pro 7 series on July 26, but we already know quite a lot about the smartphones. Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus are likely to remain China-exclusive, but many local retailers will provide international shipping for those who want to import them.

While Meizu prepares for the July 26 announcement, let’s take a look at some of the latest information about the Pro 7 series. Although previous reports claimed the Pro 7 Plus will utilize Samsung’s powerful Exynos 8895 chip, a more recent report coming from Taiwan’s TechNews says otherwise.

The soon to be unveiled …

Meizu PRO 7 to be unveiled July 26th

A tweet disseminated by Meizu reveals that the manufacturer’s PRO 7 flagship phone will be officially unveiled on July 26th. Photos that come from Meizu reveal the secondary display that takes up a small portion of the back screen. Images of the secondary display show that it is placed just under the rear-facing dual-camera setup. This is all found under the left corner of the phone’s back cover. Previous leaks show the secondary display to be a full-color LCD screen.

Speculation has the Meizu PRO 7 powered by the MediaTek Helio X30 SoC carrying a deca-core CPU. The chip brings a 35% …

Meizu Pro 7 gets teased ahead of official announcement

The next flagship coming from Meizu, the Pro 7 is expected to be unveiled very soon. Although many details about the Meizu Pro 7 leaked in the last couple of week, it’s still unclear when exactly the smartphone will be announced.

Today, the Chinese company teased the upcoming reveal of the Meizu Pro 7 on its official Twitter handle, which somewhat confirms we’re very close to a formal announcement.

The Pro 7 could be Meizu’s first smartphone to boast a dual-camera setup. Rumor has it that Meizu has decided to strike a deal with Samsung so that the Pro 7 will …

Meizu Pro 7 Plus gets pictured next to the regular Meizu Pro 7, rumored prices revealed

It looks like the dual-screened Meizu Pro 7 will have some jumbo-sized company when it launches. Among the new images leaking almost every day is one depicting a purported Meizu Pro 7 Plus next to the normal-sized handset. As expected, the Pro 7 Plus also has that much-talked-about secondary screen on its back panel. And, as you can clearly see, it’s got full support for playing Pac Man as well. What glorious times we live in!

In case you are wondering, the black handset on the left is, evidently, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus – it appears larger than the phone in silver (or gold) next to it, which …

The Meizu Pro 7's secondary screen can be a viewfinder for rear camera selfies

Yet another batch of leaked Meizu Pro 7 material surfaced online, straight out of China where the smartphone is being primed for a launch sometime soon. From the leaked photo, we are able to discern that the Pro 7’s main point of interest – the full-color secondary display on its back panel – can be used as a viewfinder! It’s positioned as to let you take a high-res selfie using the smartphone’s dual camera setup.

Granted, not the most revolutionary thing to grace smartphones since machine learning, but at least it seems practical! Besides, that second screen is also good for …

Even more Meizu Pro 7 leaked images show what playing Pac Man on its secondary screen looks like

The Meizu Pro 7 has been leaking a lot over the past few weeks, in a somewhat finished state. This must mean that the smartphone is nearing release, which is good news for fans of the Chinese brand – or anyone with a liking for unorthodox smartphones.

With its full-color secondary display, the Pro 7 is going to be notably different from other handsets coming out this year. It’s also going to try and make another case for the practical usefulness of secondary screens on smartphones with big and informative enough displays already.

We certainly …
