Some Apple iPhone X units have a strange green line running down the edge of the display

Some Apple iPhone X users are finding a strange green line running down the outer right or left edge of the OLED panel on the device. One theory is that a problem with the electrical system is causing multiple lines of green sub-pixels to light up on the screen, starting from the top of the display to the bottom. You might recall that last year, a similar pink line marred the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Samsung determined that the issue was caused by a hardware problem. Last year, several Motorola DROID Turbo 2 owners also complained about a vertical green line that appeared on their …

Apple sends email to some iPhone Upgrade Program members who lost their place in line for iPhone X

Last week, Apple kept insinuating that members of its iPhone Upgrade Program had a head start on others when it came to the process of pre-ordering an Apple iPhone X. That’s because those subscribed to the program were able to fill out certain paperwork and have it ready to submit to Apple before pre-orders started getting accepted yesterday morning. Now, Apple has been forced to send out an email to iPhone Upgrade Program members who encountered problems with their pre-order on Friday.

The email starts by saying that the program subscriber might have had an issue getting a loan. The iPhone …

Only 30 people line up for iPhone 8 at the Sydney Apple Store

Traditionally, the launch of the latest new iPhone models has hundreds of people lined up in front of the Sydney Apple Store. While the ability to pre-order the handsets online has resulted in smaller gatherings in Sydney, today’s launch of the Apple iPhone 8 and Apple iPhone 8 Plus has resulted in a new all-time low. Only 30 people made up the small line that was patiently waiting outside the store, hoping for the doors to open.

While the line might have been shorter, the passion and desire of those waiting was just the same as seen in previous years. Take Mazen Kourouche. He happened …

Apple's new 2017 iPhone line up to be named iPhone Edition, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus?

Just 11 days before Apple unveils the 2017 iPhone line up, it appears that a couple of case vendors have each heard the same whispers about the new iPhone models from the same sources in Shenzhen, who claim to have seen the packaging of the new phones. Based on these sources, it appears that the 2017 iPhone line up will consist of the Apple iPhone 8 (sequel to the Apple iPhone 7), Apple iPhone 8 Plus (sequel to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus) and the Apple iPhone Edition (the tenth anniversary model).

One of the casemakers claims to have updated its SKUs based on this information, which means that …

From stardom to lessons learned, a look back at the Samsung Galaxy Note line

Looking across the smartphone landscape, there are few lines that manage to remain relevant each and every time a new model is announced. You could argue that there are three major lines that take priority. Apple’s iPhones have continually been trendsetters, while Samsung’s Galaxy S line has somehow managed to keep equal space. However, there’s another line in Samsung’s stable that completes the trifecta – and that’s none other than the Note series.

Ever since its inception back in 2011, a long six years ago when you think about it, the Note line has grown incrementally …

iPhone 8 production line shot with potato cam, we see a lot of back panels

So, it’s a well-known fact that Apple and its manufacturing partners over in China have some Draconian rules in place for factory workers in order to minimize — nay — eliminate any leaks from the production lines. People that go in and out pass through a metal detector, cameras are following if anyone tries to pocket a piece of the future iPhone, and so on. Needless to say, there are no personal phones and absolutely no cameras on the premises.

Which is why we find it a bit odd that we are now looking at two videos, allegedly showing us the iPhone 8 manufacturing line.

Both clips …

OLED iPhones may be here to stay, Apple tipped to front LG $2.7 billion for a supply line

LG might be keeping mum on exactly how much may Apple be fronting it for its giant investment in OLED display production, but industry sources are quickly swooping in to fill the void with numbers, as usual. Previously, they speculated that Apple may be responsible for $1.7 billion of the $8.5 billion total OLED panel-making bill, but now they up the ante with a cool billion more.

The $2.7 billion sum is said to be an advance payment by Apple for securing a production line dedicated entirely to iPhone displays, starting in 2019. Rumor has it that the 2018 Apple …

“Gold-copper” Nokia 8 version allegedly leaked from production line

The Nokia 8 leak storm intensifies, which makes us believe that the handset will indeed be unveiled by the end of the month. The latest scoop allegedly comes straight from the production line, and if it’s true, it means that the Nokia flagship is already being manufactured.

The leaked photos are of a new “gold-copper” color, which has not made it to an officially sold smartphone just yet. But this is not the only difference between the device and the renders Evan Blass leaked a few days ago.

The handset doesn’t sport the Zeiss logo under its rear cameras, …

Microsoft to hold May 23rd event regarding Surface line; is the Surface Pro 5 to be unveiled?

A tweet sent Thursday by Surface chief Panos Panay suggests that Microsoft’s Surface division will be holding an event in Shanghai on May 23rd. We could see the introduction of the Surface Pro 5 and/or the Surface Book 2. And whenever Surface is involved in the introduction of a brand new or updated device, there is always talk about the possible introduction of the mythical Surface Phone.

Just yesterday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that when Microsoft gets back into the handset business, the new models will break the mold, like the Surface line already does with tablets. And speaking …
