Installing Android 8.1 has led to problems swiping on the Pixel 2/2 XL and certain Nexus models

Android 8.1 activated the Pixel Visual Core feature, enhancing the images taken with the already highly regarded cameras on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. And while the update also brought a security update with it, the new build created a little problem of its own. It was back on December 7th when the first thread appeared on the Google Support Forum describing an issue that was preventing some Pixel 2/2 XL and Nexus users from swiping up on the lock screen to enter their PIN code.

According to the threads that have been posted, it can take multiple attempts at swiping before the handset figures …

Even in China, two Nokia 6 models are available for purchase, but they’re not different when it comes to hardware. The only difference between the TA-1000 and TA-1003 versions is the fact that the latter comes with Google services, whereas the former …

The Essential Phone features an LED notification light

Announced last week as one of this year’s most interesting high-end Android handsets, the Essential Phone should be released soon in the US (likely before the end of June).

While we know pretty much everything about the Essential Phone’s specs, one thing that hasn’t been made evident from the beginning was whether or not the handset would have an LED notification light. Fortunately (and despite the thin bezels surrounding its screen), the Essential Phone does come with a notification LED – this has been confirmed by Essential via its official Twitter account.

A recent report suggests that Cupertino has been working actively on concepts that make use of mico-LED diodes, together with infrared sensors, and what not. The emerging screen tech holds massive potential, in terms of energy reduction, capacity for unseen before display features, as well as a much better all-round visual experience.

In recent months, various official and semi-confirmed …

T-Mobile investigating cause of 911 "Ghost Calls" that might have led to two deaths in Dallas

T-Mobile is sending engineers to Dallas to tackle a major issue. The city calls it a life threatening problem that might already have caused the death of 6-month old Brandon Alex, and could be responsible for at least one other passing. The baby died over the weekend in part because his babysitter could not raise 911 on a phone. Allegedly, T-Mobile handsets in the area were making “ghost calls” to 911 which prevented the babysitter from getting through.

The city said that only T-Mobile phones are involved in this mysterious glitch. Once a caller hangs up after dialing 911, the phone …
