Action Launcher update brings Essential Phone support, adds adaptive folders

Action Launcher, the popular Android app that allows users to customize their smartphones, is getting yet another important update. This would be version 31 and, as developer Chris Lacy points out, the launcher receives a handful of new features and improvements.

First off, Essential Phone users will be pleased to know Action Launcher now has support for this particular device. Another important addition is adaptive folders support. On top of that, the developer announced adaptive icon support, which previously required the one-time Plus upgrade, is now available for free to everyone.

Furthermore, …

Nova Launcher adds support for custom Oreo-style dock widgets in latest update

This is how a great deal of the new features are added in Nova Launcher, Action Launcher, and other AOSP-like home screen replacements: Google releases a new version of Android, the developers of said launchers try to implement all the new features as quickly as possible, and after they’re done, they start looking for ways to modify and diversify the experience by granting users a greater freedom for customization.
This is also the case with the docked search bar widget, which was introduced in Android 8.0 Oreo, and which made its way into Nova …

Action Launcher v30 brings even more Pixel Launcher features to the masses

Action Launcher continues to be one of the few Android launchers that allow users to take advantage of many of the Pixel Launcher features, even if they don’t actually own a Pixel smartphone.

Version 30 is a major improvement over the previous version of Action Launcher since it brings so many new features. Among the most important is the new Pixel 2-style “At a Glance” widget, which displays the date, weather, and any upcoming calendar appointment.

The new version of Action Launcher expands on the Pixel 2-style dock search addition by including a dedicated …

Lawnchair, the best near-stock Android launcher you've never heard of, is now on the Play Store

On the topic of launchers, we have a pretty good understanding of what makes a third-party offering better than the built-in one – customizability, ease of use, and snapiness, of course. Nova Launcher is the anecdotal default answer when you will most definitely find when you go search for Android launchers, but it’s always nice to have some alternatives up in your alley.
A new entrant on the launcher scene is a niche debutant that has been doing the round in the underground – dubbed Lawnchair as a tongue-in-cheek joke, this one is closely mimicking the appearance …

You can now install the Pixel 2 launcher with docked search bar on your Android phone

With the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google also introduced a revamped version of the eponymous Pixel Launcher, with fresh bouncy animations and expanded dock functionality in tow. The Pixel 2 models will be here in just a few days time, but as is tradition, the folks over at XDA have already got the new launcher ripped and ready to be installed on most Android phones out there.

So, what’s new in Pixel Launcher 2.0, or whatever you want to call it? Well, not much to be honest. Aside from the search bar now occupying the dock, instead of the upper portion …

Nova Launcher becomes one of the most popular Android launchers, hits 50 million downloads

We knew Nova Launcher is among the most popular Android launchers, but starting this week, the app has become even more popular. The beta version of the Nova Launcher has just reached more than 50 million downloads in the Google Play Store, an impressive achievement that wouldn’t have been possible without the support from the developers.

It looks like having a solid beta program and listening to what users want from your app has proven to be the winning formula for Nova Launcher.

TeslaCoil’s Nova Launcher is available for free, but a paid version can be …

Action Launcher update brings customizable Pixel 2-style dock search

Google revealed a completely redesigned Pixel Launcher that comes pre-installed on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. As such, the new changes are slowly starting to make their way into some of the more popular Android launchers.

The first to add some of the new Pixel Launcher’s style is Chris Lacy’s Action Launcher. Version 29.0 has just been released in the Google Play Store and brings a customizable Pixel 2-style dock search.

So, aside from the fact that you get to use the Pixel 2’s dock search box, but you’ll also be able to customize it with your …

Next HTC Sense Home update to bring new Pixel Launcher style app drawer

Although HTC doesn’t own a smartphone business any longer, the Taiwanese company will still launch another flagship by the end of the year. Google acquired HTC’s workforce, which includes almost 2,000 engineers, earlier this week, in an attempt to turn its Pixel phones into a much more competitive lineup.

Regardless of that, HTC will continue to support its newest smartphones with updates whenever needed. In fact, a new report claims the Taiwanese company plans to release a new Sense Home update, which will include some major changes.

One of the many improvements included, the app …

Next version of Nova Launcher to bring adaptive icons support

A brand new version of Nova Launcher was released earlier this week, which brought quite a few important changes that Android users can take advantage of. But there’s a new version of the launcher that’s being in the works now that will add a couple of other major improvements.

Released as beta, Nova Launcher v5.5 brings support for adaptive icons into the mix. The new feature is fully compatible with devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher, but some icons will require at least Android Nougat.

If you plan to install the beta version of Nova Launcher 5.5, then you should know …

Nova Launcher 5.4 is now rolling out with Oreo goodness on board

Nova Launcher 5.4 has rolled out of beta and into the stable channel. Throughout July, early testers of the popular Android home screen replacement were treated to various improvements, such as a brand new and robust shortcuts system (albeit via third-party app integration), new animations, and the usual tweaks and added layers of polish that can be expected from every update.
The big star of the show is obviously Sesame Shortcuts – a third-party app that’s now deeply integrated into Nova Launcher and allows users to jump to specific apps, or even screens within apps, by simply using the search …
