Twitter trolls are using the latest iOS bug to crash iPhones

TwitterFacebook

It looks like trolls are exploiting the latest iPhone bug to make life very difficult for Twitter users.

Earlier in the week, yet another iPhone-crashing iOS bug surfaced. For some reason, a single character from the Indian Telugu language will cause whatever app it’s viewed in to crash repeatedly.

Apple has said it’s aware of the issue and plans to fix it in an upcoming update, but the issue has proved to be particularly problematic on Twitter. As word of yet another crash-inducing bug has begun to spread, it appears that some Twitter users are using it to their advantage. Read more…

Google Maps for iOS gains quick access to transit and traffic info in the latest update

Google Maps development is a little bit ahead on Android, but the iOS app is getting the same features sooner or later as well. The latest update brings one improvement that’s been added to the Maps for Android last year: quick access to transit and traffic info.

The search giant has just announced it is now rolling out the same useful update to Maps for iOS. If you’ve already received the update, you can now swipe up to get access to three tabs: explore, driving, and transit.

These tabs will allow Maps for iOS users find a nearby restaurant much easier, or even catch the next bus. …

Latest BBM update is out of beta, ready to be installed on your iOS or Android phone

BBM used to be one of the only reasons to buy a BlackBerry. So when CEO John Chen decided to open up the messaging app to iOS and Android users, the executive was taking a big risk. Remember, this was before the release of the BlackBerry Priv, the first ‘Berry to be powered by Android. But Chen wasn’t too concerned with losing hardware sales because he was already looking at BlackBerry as a software company.

He knew he was on the right track when Facebook paid $21.8 billion to buy WhatsApp. If the latter was worth almost $22 billion, Chen reasoned that BBM had to be worth a few billion. …

Natalie Portman takes on Tide Pods in latest 'SNL' rap

TwitterFacebook

She may be a mom now, but Natalie Portman spits fire as hot as ever.

Reimagining the viral Lonely Planet digital short from her last SNL hosting stint in 2006, Portman dropped some sick game – rapping about her not-ballerino husband Benjamin Millepied, and GenZ’s favorite pastime, snacking on Tide Pods.

“It sounds like you’re almost exactly the same but with current references,” Beck Bennett says, filling in the interview chair for 06’s Chris Parnell.

“Do you find it difficult juggling kids and a career?” he asks.

“You can juggle these nuts,” Portman responds.

Okay, then.

Keeping up with the theme of the evening, former Saturday Night Live mainstay and Lonely Planet cofounder Andy Samberg made a cameo in the video, dressed in the same inexplicable Viking costume as in Natalie Raps Part I. Only this time, he has a present for her. Read more…

Essential Phone's Camera app improved with grid options in latest update

Ever since its commercial launch, the Essential Phone has received lots of criticism for its lackluster camera software. However, Andy Rubin & Co. have been hard at work trying to address these concerns, and we’re happy to say that the handset’s Camera app has been updated yet again.

The latest patch brings along grid options. As you might know, the camera grid divides the frame into thirds both horizontally and vertically, which allows users to better compose their shots. Also included are various stability fixes.

Qualcomm and Broadcom are the latest Apple suppliers to spell earnings gloom

Buried inside the latest earnings reports of Qualcomm, Broadcom, and other big Apple suppliers, lies yet another tangential evidence that Apple’s Q1 forecast may be lower than analysts initially expected. Qualcomm, which is in a patent feud with Apple over breaking the exclusivity agreement for wireless modem supplies prematurely, mentioned in its earnings report that sales for a big “thin modem” client will be worse than usual, even counting seasonality factors for the January-March period.

That big modem customer is more than likely Apple, as the iPhones for Verizon and Sprint …

OnePlus brings iPhone X-like navigation gestures in latest Oreo beta release

An edge-to-edge screen is a great thing to have, but you still have to navigate around this screen and on Android devices this is done via software buttons that take up space and spoil the “all-screen phone” idea a bit.

OnePlus now shows that it can be done in a different way. The company is testing gestures to navigate around the interface, a manner similar to what Apple uses in the iPhone X.
This new OnePlus feature is currently only available for developers to test in the OxygenOS Open Beta 3 version, as Reddit user MisterMrMister notes. We have …

Latest security update for the AT&T version of the BlackBerry KEYone is getting pushed out now

Here is something you need to remember; just because the AT&T version of the BlackBerry KEYone is black, it is not the Black Edition of the KEYone. The version of the phone available from AT&T sports the same specs as the original KEYone model that features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. On the other hand, the Black Edition of the BlackBerry KEYone offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. For some reason, that model, and the similarly spec’d Bronze Edition, are not available in the states.

What is available is an update for owners of the AT&T BlackBerry KEYone. According …

Latest Apple iPhone X ad is all about the selfie, Portrait Lighting, and Muhammad Ali

Ming-Chi Kuo is arguably the most connected Apple analyst on this planet. Working for KGI Securities, Kuo has a fabulous track record and when he talks about Apple products, people listen. For example, while everyone was wondering early last year where Apple was going to put Touch ID on the iPhone X, Kuo already knew the answer. Consider this paragraph written by yours truly last February, seven months before the phone was unveiled. Just keep in mind that back then, we all thought that the tenth anniversary model would be called the iPhone 8:

“Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that the …
