No more Snap, Crackle or Pop for iPhone 8/8 Plus as Apple sends out iOS 11.0.2

A bit more than a week ago, we told you that some Apple iPhone 8 and Apple iPhone 8 Plus users were troubled by a static noise that was coming from their phone’s earpiece. Apple said that it would send out a software update that would fix the problem, and that update came today when iOS 11.0.2 was pushed out by the gang in Cupertino. So, the static issue should be gone following the installation of iOS 11.0.2. The size of the update weighs in at 286.8MB.

38.5% of iOS devices are running iOS 11; Apple executives testing Apple Pay Cash?

Apple launched iOS 11 on September 19th. 24 hours after being released, iOS 11 was running on 10% of iOS devices. After one week, the figure was up to 25.28%. Now, two weeks after the launch, iOS 11 is installed on 38.5% of iPhone and iPad units. As high a figure as that is, last year saw 48.16% of iPhone and iPod models updated to iOS 10 after the same two week time period. So why is the adoption rate for iOS 11 down from last year’s iOS 10? There is speculation that iOS users are waiting for certain features like Apple Pay Cash to be included in a future version of iOS 11 (more on this later) …

How to activate Smart Invert in iOS 11

The new “Smart Invert” feature in iOS 11 is a dark mode, but smarter.

For a while, Apple has been trying features to ease the nighttime burden on our eyes when they’re staring at screens, with greyscale mode in iOS 8 and Night Shift in iOS 9. Smart Invert, iOS 11’s go at eye relief, inverts some colors, but leaves images, videos, and some apps untouched, aiming to dampen your screen’s glow without leading to the really weird image contortions that we saw with previous iterations of the feature.
