Pokemon GO now fully compatible with iPhone X, but drops support for iOS 8 devices

Many developers must update their apps and games to support Apple’s new iPhone X due to the unusual display of the smartphone. Niantic announced recently it has issued such an update for the ever popular Pokemon GO game.

In fact, Niantic released two updates for each of the game’s platform version: Android and iOS. The iOS update brings support for the iPhone X screen resolution and some optimizations for this specific device. However, along with the addition of iPhone X compatibility, the developers removed support for devices running iOS 8.

Notch you worry: the best iOS apps optimized for the iPhone X

The Notch and the Horns. While that may sound like the name of an English pub, the horns on the two sides of the notch can actually serve a purpose with their active screen area, believe it or not, and we don’t mean simply showing the battery icon or network status.

Apple sacrificed so many things to make the TrueDepth 3D face-mapping camera set on the iPhone X really good, that you might have already started wondering if it’s all been worth it. First off, Apple was so certain that Face ID can work flawlessly, that it disposed of the home button …

SEGA's Sonic Forces: Speed Battles out now on Android and iOS

When you own such a popular franchise as Sonic, you’ll have less to worry about people not trying it out. SEGA keeps pouring Sonic titles in the App Store and Google Play, so if you’ve managed to keep track of them, here is one that follows the same endless runner formula.

Sonic Forces: Speed Battles is perhaps the first game in the series that contains loot boxes, an aspect that has been embraced by many publishers and developers who want to keep players engaged long after they’ve completed the content (I’m looking at you EA).

Also, unlike other titles …

Mozilla launches the new Firefox Quantum browser for Android and iOS

A new Firefox browser is now available for mobile devices, one that’s twice as fast as Firefox from 6 months ago, Mozilla claims. Dubbed Firefox Quantum, the new browser is available on Android and iOS platforms, but also on Windows, Mac and Linux.

The most important improvement over any of the previous versions of Firefox is speed. Quantum is much faster than any Mozilla browsers launched in the past and, according to the developer, looks better than ever.

Notch Remover is another iOS app aiming to fill the iPhone X top

Another day, another iPhone X notch-modifier app gets the nod in the App Store. This time around it is simply called Notch Remover, and does what it says on the tin – takes any image you throw at it, and rounds it up to the nearest corner, placing one uninterrupted black bar at the top, as if you have a bezel without a cutout.

It won’t function in apps, of course, or anything like that, but will improve the look of the home and lock screens if you are not the notch-y type, as the fitting images can then go into your wallpaper sets. Needless to say, you will …

Ohio State fans had the best response to Apple's iOS 11 glitch

TwitterFacebook

Ohio State crushed Michigan State yesterday—and they also crushed Apple.

Ohio State fans perfectly executed a timely prank directed at the iPhone maker. During an O-H-I-O chant, when they would usually represent the “I,” fans instead held up signs that read “A[?].”

Yep, they replaced the “I” with the nonsense “A[?]”—just as Apple did with an autocorrect suggestion for iOS 11 users this week.
