Got only $100 for a smartphone? ZTE introduces the Blade Spark, the budget-friendly midranger

ZTE is no stranger to the budget-oriented market as it often sets an aggressive pricing on their phones, putting it well inside the bargain range. Today, the company has announced its newest lower-tier phone — an AT&T exclusive, which will set you back only $100. Is it worth it?

The handset in question is a part of the Blade family and is called ZTE Blade Spark. With its rather light price-tag, its specs are justifiably low-tier — a quad-core, 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage (7 GB available to user) expandable via microSD. The display is rather …

Having a map on a smartphone that helps you get to places you’ve never been is now one of the trivial things we didn’t have ten years ago. Over the years, there were many companies that tried to perfect their navigation maps and systems, but one that ultimately won the race is Google Maps.

With tens of millions of users all over the world, Google Maps has become the main navigational app for mobile devices. Today, the application has gained something that will allow the many to contribute for the benefit of a few.

Google has just announced that they’re introducing …

'Destiny 2' introduces a new raid with a very specific focus

TwitterFacebook

Luke Smith, the director of Destiny 2 and one of the key architects behind the series, looks at all of the raids to date as his children.

“I love all of them and they’re all unique in their own way,” he said during an E3 interview.

Smith led the raid team across the finish line with Vault of Glass, and he’s continued to work closely with Gavin Irby — who took over after Smith leveled up to Game Director — on one of Destiny‘s signature features. The six-player co-op activities — which, fundamentally, are hours-long group puzzles — are widely acknowledged as the sprawling game’s most unpredictable and play-changing activities. Read more…

Instagram introduces automatic blocking of offensive comments

Instagram isn’t as infamous for its toxic user base as other social media services are (looking at you, Twitter), but just like pretty much every online community out there, there exists a specific subset of its users that take advantage of the relative anonymity to abuse others. To combat this problem, Instagram has just launched a new feature: automatic blocking of offensive comments.

The filter will work both in posts and live video, and will block comments it finds abusive or offensive. Together with it, a new spam filter is also being introduced, and both of them will be …

Asus introduces the ZenPad 3S 8.0 tablet, a smaller but slightly better version of the ZenPad 3S 10

Asus tablets usually come in pairs, but the ZenPad 3S 10 revealed back in February at Mobile World Congress came alone. Well, the large tablet won’t remain unpaired for too long, as Asus quietly introduced the smaller version of the 10-inch slate, the ZenPad 3S 8.0.

As the name suggests, the new ZenPad 3S 8.0 is smaller than the ZenPad 3S 10, but some specs are slightly better. For example, the slate is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, as opposed to the Snapdragon 650 CPU inside the ZenPad 3S 10.

The ZenPad 3S 8.0 packs 4GB RAM and either …

Amazon introduces new Echo Show with a touchscreen and ability to make calls

This morning, Amazon introduced its next-generation Amazon Echo device, the Echo Show. As expected, the new smart speaker includes a touchscreen, and will allow users to make phone calls over the internet. With the screen, Echo users will have a new way to interact with Amazon’s AI personal assistant Alexa. The new model takes on the form factor of an office intercom instead of the tall cylinder design seen with the current version of the Echo.

As we told you yesterday, Amazon has a huge 70.6% share of the U.S. market for smart speakers. Google Home is second, and many other tech …

Vinyl galore: dbrand introduces its alluring range of vinyl skins for the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+

Let us ask you something – how would you protect your Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus? Are you immediately putting a hideous case on this one or will, perish the thought, use it naked?
Luckily, there’s a third option – a vinyl skin. While these don’t normally provide much protection (they will only shield your device from scuffs and scratches), these are often a neat way to customize the exterior of your phone. A compromise many are willing to take.
One of the best vinyl makers out there, dbrand, just released its lineup of skins for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. As usual, …

Samsung introduces a 4G LTE version of the Gear S3 Classic

The Gear S3 is one of the most successful smartwatches outside of the Apple Watch, and it comes in two flavors: both are almost equally big and imposing, masculine timepieces with some slight differences. The Gear S3 classic ships with a less rugged look and a leather band, while the S3 frontier has a more sporty look, with textured buttons and a rubber strap. Up until today, the S3 frontier was also the only one that you could opt to get with cellular data on board.
This changes today as Samsung officially announces that the Gear S3 …

Sony introduces the Xperia L1: an elegant and affordable 5.5-inch smartphone

Sony today unveiled the Xperia L1, an elegant Dual SIM smartphone with a 5.5-inch HD display and classic Sony design.

Although L1’s name may suggest ties with 2013’s peculiar Xperia L, the new phone bears almost no resemblance to it, as it is decidedly more slender and more stylish in its presentation. The Xperia L1 features a classic Sony design – a flat top and bottom create ostensibly sharp edges when viewed from the front or back, which blend smoothly into the rounded sides of the device.

The front of the device is occupied by a 5.5-inch 720p display …
