Pre-paid carrier MetroPCS has some new promotions that it is launching today. The first deal requires you to switch two lines over to MetroPCS. That will allow you to pick up a pair of 32GB LG K20 Plus handsets for free after instant rebates. Actually, you will be responsible for the sales tax only. The K20 Plus is a low-to-mid-range handset with a 5.3-inch display and a 720 x 1280 HD resolution. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 425 chipset and has 2GB of RAM. Apple iPhone 8 to come in four colors including a reflective mirrored surface?

Consider this. Every day takes us one day closer to the unveiling of the Apple iPhone 8. The tenth anniversary model will be the first iPhone to feature an OLED panel, and the latest speculation has Apple launching the phone without Touch ID. Instead, Apple is expected to use a face recognition feature available from the front-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition (FE) is official, and is being launched on July 7th. As we told you the other day, South Korean carrier LG Uplus is accepting pre-orders at a price of KRW 700,000 which translates into $611 USD. The latest word is that no more than 400,000 units will be sold in South Korea so that the device doesn’t cannibalize the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note8 phablet. Overseas sales are being considered. The original color options, Black Onyx; Blue Coral; Gold Platinum; and Silver Titanium are available.

YouTube now allows more videos to be seen in Restrictive Mode, including those showing LGBTQ+ issues

YouTube’s Restricted Mode is designed to prevent the kiddies from viewing something that would no doubt blow their minds. But in the process of making sure that certain videos couldn’t be viewed by minors (no matter how hard they tried), a large number of relatively harmless videos were also getting blocked. And that included many clips with LGBTQ+ content.

T-Mobile has announced two new Simply Prepaid plans. The first one, priced at $45 a month, features unlimited talk, text and data. But only 4GB of the data is of the high-speed 4G LTE variety. You can keep your current number and current device, or purchase a shiny new phone from T-Mobile. Spend $55 a month, and you can raise your high speed 4G LTE data cap to 6GB. Both tiers come with Wi-Fi Calling, Music Unlimited (which streams music without dipping into your data bucket), and Data Maximizer (which streams video for free at DVD quality 480p.

AT&T's pre-paid GoPhone service adds two new plans including one offering unlimited high-speed data

Unlimited plans are now in vogue, even for pre-paid service. AT&T’s GoPhone brand has added two new plans, including one that offers unlimited high-speed data. Let’s start with the latter plan first. Starting today, sign up for AutoPay and you’ll be receiving unlimited 4G LTE data for $60 a month. The plan offers unlimited talk, text and data cruising at a maximum speed of 3Mbps. Video streams at a DVD-quality 480p definition at a maximum speed of 1.5Mbps. Exceed 22Mbps inside of a month, and you’ll find your data speed throttled. VLC beta for Android gets loads of new features, including voice search and Android Auto support

The folks over at VideoLabs are about to unleash a major update for their VLC app for Android devices. Several new features have been added to the beta version of VLC, and if trialed successfully, they should be available to everyone very soon.

First of all, the developers have added support for LG devices with 18:9 aspect ratio, like the G6 smartphone, recently announced. Also, there’s a new option that allows VLC users to save subtitles delay and optionally audio delay for each file.

HTC Including Complimentary Insurance with US One M9 Purchases

HTC has announced a new program for those customers in the US considering an upgrade to or purchasing the forthcoming HTC One M9 that takes a departure from the comprehensive coverage offered with the previous Advantage program that covered the previously released One M8, One Mini, and One Max.

The new insurance program, called “Uh-Oh Protection” will consist of HTC providing a free replacement phone if the first M9 suffers a broken screen, water damage, or a change in wireless carriers. The one-time replacement is available during the first 12 months of initial ownership and is the protection is available without customer intervention. M9 owners who do not take advantage of the Uh Oh Protection service at the end of the first 12 months will in turn receive a $100 credit towards the purchase of a future HTC One series handset.

The insurance and credit offer is available beginning next week on March 25th and runs until August 31st, according to the Terms and Conditions for the program and the one-time exchange requires either sending the damaged phone back to HTC for the exchange first after contacting the manufacturer, or placing a temporary hold on a credit card of $299 to expedite shipping.
