One new item is the addition of the “Your People” page, which apparently is a way for Google Assistant users to set up a link between nicknames and relationships to people in their contacts. April Android Security update includes bug fixes for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Information about the April Android security update has been disseminated and the update will soon be pushed out to the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Additionally, some Nexus handsets should receive it as well. Besides the usual security patches, the April Android security update contains 56 “functional updates” for Pixel and Nexus devices. Possible beefed up Samsung Galaxy J8 variant includes more RAM, Snapdragon CPU

Samsung is expected to unveil another set of Galaxy J smartphones soon, but we already have some information about at least two unannounced models. The first one, a certain Samsung Galaxy J8 popped up at Geekbench early this month with an Exynos 7870 processor and 3GB RAM.

WhatsApp Beta for Windows Phone includes new features

Believe it or not, there is an update for the WhatsApp Beta for Windows Phone. The new version is 2.18.30. Among the new features is Live Location. This allows you to share your location with others for a set period of time. To use this feature, go to chat and tap on Location. You then set the amount of time that you want WhatsApp to allow others to know where you are. There are three settings to choose from, 15-minutes, 1-hour or 8-hours. You can also abruptly stop Live Location anytime you want by clicking on the “Stop” button. The new feature is accurate to 5 miles.

The Microsoft Launcher for Android has received an update that adds Cortana integration to version 4.6 of the app. The update also allows you to add the Daily Bing Wallpaper to your home screen or lock screen, or both. The Razer Phone has received an update weighing in at 249MB that makes it the best smartphone for Netflix-addicted streamers. The update brings Netflix HDR to the handset, which is the only phone in the world to support it. Samsung Pay update includes an updated UI

What makes Samsung Pay different (at least until LG Pay hits the states in H1 of 2018), is the fact that the mobile payment system works with both NFC enabled check-out platforms, and with older POS registers that do not work with NFC. For the latter, Samsung Pay uses magnetic secure transmission (MST). This allows Samsung Pay to work on any POS system that accepts swiped credit cards, which includes just about any retailer. Essential Phone receives January security patch which includes fixes for Meltdown and Spectre flaws

When you’re packing stock Android, like the Essential Phone is, updates are sent fairly quickly.
