HP’s Elite X3 might just have been the best Windows 10 Mobile device nobody bought. Reasons for this include its considerably high price tag, its focus on the enterprise, as well as possibly its biggest problem: the fact it runs Windows. But even a company as badly mismanaged as HP (hey, remember that time they bought Palm and ran it right into the ground in just a year?) knows when it’s got a good idea, and a recent rumor suggests the company is working on a successor.
The HP Elite x3 is the most capable of any Windows 10 Mobile handset. Currently, the device is offered only with support for GSM bands, but that appears likely to change. HP is working on obtaining new certifications for the Elite x3, this time with support listed specifically for Verizon. That would mean that the new version would have the ability to run over CDMA pipelines. Among the new applications HP sent out include one for the FCC, one for the Bluetooth SIG and another for the Wi-Fi Alliance.
In case you’re not familiar with the phone, the HP Elite x3 features a 6-inch AMOLED display …
As we told you the other day, the most powerful Windows 10 Mobile handset of all time, the HP Elite x3, could be getting replaced real soon. At MWC, HP had the successor to the Elite x3 enclosed inside a glass container. The new phone looks similar to the Elite x3, although it has thinner bezels and the front-facing camera has been moved to the opposite side. It also appears to no longer carry the speaker at the bottom of the handset.
Also making an appearance at MWC was a new Lap Dock meant for the next version of the Elite x3 (Elite x4?) that seemed to get lost in the excitement of the …
HP has produced a video that shows various reasons why the Windows 10 Mobile powered HP Elite x3 smartphone needs to be given out to all cops before they go out on their daily tour. As the video tells us, a typical day could demand that an officer enter evidence, respond to a call, or file paperwork. The HP Elite x3 helps with all of these tasks and more. The 6-inch AMOLED screen has a 1440 x 2560 resolution making it perfect for taking notes during the daily briefing and when reviewing images of suspects. And because it is powered by Windows, the phone is compatible with the department’s …
Last year, at MWC 2016, HP unveiled a very interesting device: the Elite x3, a 6-inch water-resistant smartphone running Windows 10. Now, the company is seemingly planning to introduce a successor to the x3.
PC World spotted a new Elite handset being showcased at MWC 2017 behind a glass enclosure. Reportedly, an HP spokesperson said that this was “an example of how” the company sees the “future iterations of the x3 platform.” At the moment, there’s no further information about the device, so we don’t know when it’s supposed to be officially announced. In any case, we assume that HP will …
