HMD announces it will soon release Android 8.0 Oreo for Nokia 8

We already know HMD plans to update all its Nokia smartphone to Android 8.0 Oreo since the Finnish company confirmed it numerous times in the past. The only thing that we need to determine is when exactly it will happen.

It goes without saying that HMD will not release the update to all its Nokia smartphones at the same time. Also, it would make sense for the most powerful device to get Oreo first, in this case, Nokia 8.

So, if you own the Nokia 8, you should ready your phone for a major Android update. HMD’s Chief Product Office, Juho Sarvikas confirmed …

HMD confirms the camera app on Nokia smartphones will be updated

You might remember that HMD got its hands on the Lumia Camera UI design patent some months ago. At that time we hoped the Finnish company will bring it to some or all Nokia smartphones, and it looks like we weren’t wrong.

HMD’s Global Chief Product Manager Juho Sarvikas confirmed that his company plans to update the Camera app on all its Nokia smartphones in the near future. He also hinted that the update will include many of the features (if not all) that made the Lumia Camera UI so reliable.

Well, considering the current Camera app on HMD’s Nokia smartphones …

Nokia 2 leaked specs confirm it will be cheapest HMD smartphone

The unannounced Nokia 2 is supposed to be the cheapest Android smartphone to be launched by HMD. Although we’re expecting the entry-level handset to be unveiled in early 2018, there’s a chance that the Finnish company will launch the Nokia 2 by the end of the year.

We’ve been given a sneak peek at HMD’s low-end smartphone a while ago courtesy to Evan Blass, but now we have a little bit more information about what’s under Nokia 2’s hood. An AnTuTu benchmark listing reveals some of the phone’s specifications such as processor, memory, display, and software.

The Nokia 2 will pack a Qualcomm …

HMD kicks off Android 8.0 Oreo beta program for Nokia 8

HMD has just announced it will soon start a beta program for Android Oreo for Nokia 8. The so-called Nokia phones beta labs will allow those fans to test software updates before they are released to the masses.

The first smartphone that will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update is probably the Nokia 8 since HMD is about to start testing it. However, Nokia 3, 5 and 6 will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo as well, although that might not happen this year.

Our growing community of beta testers are the first to receive Android 8.0 Oreo. By testing the software ahead …

HMD confirms Nokia 8 will not be coming to the U.S., says it's not “properly banded”

Sad news for Nokia fans in the United States, as HMD has just confirmed that its flagship won’t be launched in this region. Although previous reports from various sources suggested Nokia 8 might eventually be launched in the US, it appears that the smartphone hasn’t been designed for this particular market.

However, not all is lost for US customers, as HMD plans to develop another portfolio of devices specifically built for this market. Some of these devices might be announced as early as Q1 2018 if we are to believe the latest rumors.

The HMD official who …

HMD says all current Nokia smartphones will be upgraded to Android P

HMD has already committed to updating all its Nokia smartphones launched this year to Android 8.0 Oreo. Even the cheap Nokia 3 is supposed to be upgraded to the new version of the OS by the end of the year.

Well, it looks like the Finnish company took it even further and said that all its current Nokia smartphones will be upgraded to Android P soon after Google releases it next year. The announcement was made earlier today at a launch event in the Philippines.

It’s safe to assume that all other Nokia smartphones HMD will launch by the time Android P goes …

HMD official confirms Nokia 3, 5 and 6 will receive Android Oreo update by the end of 2017

Nokia fans who already bought HMD’s new Android smartphones are probably excited for the upcoming Android Oreo updates the Finnish company has already confirmed. All four Nokia-branded handsets are expected to be upgraded to Android Oreo in the coming months, but at least three of them will receive the update by the end of the year.

HMD’s General Manager for Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia, Mark Trundle (at 5:15) confirmed that Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will be running Android Oreo by the end of 2017. The company’s flagship, Nokia 8 was spotted online …

HMD working to bring one more smartphone on the market alongside Nokia 2

It looks like the Nokia 2 might not be the only smartphone HMD plans to launch in the coming months. Press renders of what appears to be HMD’s cheapest Android smartphone leaked online last week, but we still don’t know when exactly the Nokia 2 will be officially unveiled.

Two unknown Nokia smartphones have been recently certified in China, which go by the codenames TA-1041 and TA-1042. Both devices listed at the Chinese regulatory commission have quick charge, something that only the Nokia 8 features.

The presence of quick charge support suggests that these …

HMD officials hint to new smartphone with display larger than Nokia 8

With the recent flagship launch, the Nokia brand is back in business, hopefully, for many years to come. Although Nokia is not the company behind the new Android smartphones, HMD is doing a great job restoring the name of the Finnish company to its previous glory.

Nokia 8 is expected to make its debut in Europe in early September for €599, but HMD has no immediate plans to release it in the United States. Even though there are other flagships with slightly better specs (OnePlus 5), the Nokia 8 is cheaper than Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 7.

HMD promises to fix the Dolby Equalizer issue affecting Nokia 5 devices

If you happen to own a Nokia 5, then chances are you’re being affected by a strange issue that prevents the smartphone from opening the Dolby Equalizer settings from certain music apps.

Many Nokia 5 users have noticed that when they try to open the Equalizer app from Google Play Music or Spotify, they get a white screen instead of the audio settings.

Although Dolby Equalizer does work when not specifically opened from those two apps (maybe others too), HMD Global has already acknowledged the problem and said they are already working on a fix.

For those who would still want …
