Pokemon GO developer Niantic to launch new Harry Potter AR game in 2018

Niantic Labs, the maker of the Pokemon GO smash hit, is expected to launch another AR (augmented reality) game for mobiles next year. The new game will benefit from another tremendously popular franchise: Harry Potter.

According to a new report from TechCrunch, a new mobile game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, which is co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive’s sub-brand Portkey Games, will be launched in 2018.

Not much is known about the upcoming AR game, just that Niantic will heavily draw inspiration from Ingress, its less popular take on …

There's an easter egg when you post or comment about Harry Potter on Facebook

TwitterFacebook

Facebook certainly didn’t forget about Harry Potter’s 20th anniversary.

The social media giant quietly rolled out an easter egg in time for Jun. 26, the day J.K. Rowling first published Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997 (which Americans will of course know as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone).

If you post or comment the name of any of the houses in Harry Potter on Facebook — that’s Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, or Ravenclaw — the name will be displayed in the color of the house, and out pops some magic. You can also click on the word to make the wand appear again. Read more…

We ranked the most dateable Harry Potter characters because the world needs to know

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the publication of the first Harry Potter book June 26th, Mashable is reminiscing about the series. Enjoy.

Without further ado, Mashable presents: The top 10 ultra-specific, most dateable Harry Potter characters — complete with the book in which they are at their most desirable. Read more…

Harry Styles likes The Life of Pablo, apparently.

The One Direction heartthrob-turned-solo star celebrated his first album on Saturday with an intimate London performance. Among the new material Styles let loose with was an unexpected cover: “Ultralight Beam,” off of Kanye West’s latest album.

The gospel-flavored original features West with The-Dream, Kelly Price, Kirk Franklin, and Chance the Rapper. Styles’ cover replaces the choir with the mournful wail of a reverb-heavy guitar, and it’s a perfect complement to the singer’s alt-rock flavor. Read more…

'SNL' agrees with the internet, turns Harry Styles into a perfect Mick Jagger

TwitterFacebook

The latest “Celebrity Family Feud” on Saturday Night Live is wall to wall with epic impersonations. Cecily Strong as Liza. Kate McKinnon as Kristen Stewart. Jimmy Fallon double-dipping as two different versions of John Travolta.

But Harry Styles is the winner because SNL accepted what the internet already knew: he’s basically Mick Jagger. I mean… this might not be the most accurate picture of the Rolling Stones frontman circa 1977, but it’s funny.

Even when the camera’s not directly on Styles, he’s owning the sketch. Look at this. Just look at it. What is he doing??
